I didn't do VIP this year so can't speak but I hope CID pays attention to the value decay for VIP, even with the little things like the swag.

I also tried to note that among the reasons people go VIP, there seem to be two priorities--one is the better viewing; the other is the better overall experience. The latter brings in facilities, perks and swag.
I'd like for CID to be aware of these so it can make adjustments and keep VIP a desirable option.

Hammocks anywhere they can be strung and not be in someone else's campsite or in a walkway are not only fine, but should be encouraged. So should sharing of said hammocks. Just like chairs in the field.
Shade tents have no expectation of having a view, so placing them in the back is fine. At Grand Targhee (great fest, highly recommend) there is a chair line (like lockn had) and further back a shade tent line. Other fests have similar policies or the attendees simply do that because it's what seems right.

Most of that could be alleviated if there was just one stage and a really large bowl. It would probably take a LOT of earth moving to make that happen, but just a few tweaks might get it a little closer to the ideal.
The sound for the main stage was really only good if you were actually inside the main bowl - go beyond the little path at the back and the acoustics were pretty awful. And that bowl's just a little too small with all the chairs and structures and blankets. Just not the kind of spread-out room I'm used to at outdoor venues.
Keeping the chairs out of the front section worked a lot better than I've ever seen before! So kudos for that. On the occasion that I went down close to the stage, it was easy to move around, crowding was not a problem, and having nothing to stumble on made it a lot more fun.

Someone made this interesting comment--he was walking down through green fields to the stage during Fogarty and could hear all the people singing along--but not the music much. In fact, you couldn't hear much music from behind the stage until you got close. But the people singing were facing the other way from the speakers!

I was in Green Field rv, third row of rvs from BRB (so top of the hill basically). Could not hear anything from main stage, almost nothing from BRB. I was further back last year and stage was way further forward and I could hear much more. I guess its the hole the main stage was in. So maybe the relocation itself was to make the neighbors happy.
