Taco Bell adding booze at 300 new locations

Doesn't this defeat the whole 'late night/sober up' run?

trying to make fast food into fast casual. Notice how a lot of them are doing things like bringing your food to you, clearing your table, etc.?

There was a chain about 25 years ago called "Two Pesos" that served better Mexican food, beer, and was similar in that respect to Moe's. But the public didn't get it--it was too slow for fast food (taco bell) and too self-serve for a Mexican restaurant. So the owners converted most of them to Hooters (I did some work for them back then).

I think the Two Pesos concept would sell now. But it won't work at Taco Bell because it has already established its brand as fast, cheap bad food. Instead they should open a second line under a new name.

On the other hand--drive-thru tequila shots, late night? Genius!
