Love the Good Rev. Saw him in Harrisonburg this past February. Solo then sat in a set with the Nighthawks. Don't know if I've shared this Rev Billy story here before or not. It was 1983 in Harrisonburg. I was helping a good buddy move (we just saw DSO at the Anthem on the 2nd) and he had 3 or 4 aquariums for fresh and salt water fish. As we were moving them into the basement apartment of the duplex, his upstairs neighbor asked if the tanks were for tarantulas and was visibly disappointed when we told him they were for fish. Many years ago Rev. Billy C. Wirtz had the crowd all fired up like a back-slider's tractor pull, probably while doing "Shopping Mall in Heaven" and had everyone turn to the person next to them and slap them on the forehead like Jimmy Swaggart "Be healed"! I turned to my left to see the sternum, at my eye level, of a 6-4 biker. I left him unsaved, deep fried and sanctified.
He also once got a crowd of about 1000 to all do the drum solo of "Wipe Out" on their thighs. A wonder to behold.
