Friend of mine here in charlottesville works for a contractor that has apparently been approached about building permanent bathrooms at the Lockn site...
could be a nice upgrade if it pans out!

That is really interesting information - much thanks for passing it along.
Of course, it raises a ton of questions. I can't imagine it is financially viable for them to install bathrooms for everyone to use. Maybe they just do it for VIP and/or the venue area, but that still seems like an expensive investment for a small return (not many people are considering one festival over another because of bathroom quality). Nonetheless, I would love to see it happen.
Perhaps the most interesting point here is that (in only the second year) the promoters are looking at installing permanent infrastructure on the festival grounds. I'd say this is a good sign that they plan on keeping Lockn' around for years to come!

Could be for staff & bands but since I'm going VIP I would take it. But the fact that they are talking permanent structures says a lot. I would think they would talk stages also if they have the money. Like Dylan says it's a good sign.

great news! if you get any more info, please share! more than permanent bathrooms, i'd like to see some more water hookups throughout the camping area. would be nice to have a closer source of H2O

The VIP toilets weren’t bad. I sure will miss them this year. Going GA. I am hoping they have jiffy-condos in the handicapped area.

I guess we'll find out together. After hobbling all those miles from camp to stage and back, I finally got humble and asked my Dr for a disabled placard. So the wife and I will be in that section too. I understand that ADA has its own portas and showers and that both are handicap (I hate that word) accessible. I don't really require either, but if nothing else they're usually roomier than the regular ones.I am hoping they have jiffy-condos in the handicapped area.

Had a friend camp in ADA last year. If you have mobility issues, like she does, you should take advantage of it. It is right by the check point. Not sure about the portos in ADA but I am sure they have to be wheelchair accessible. We would drop off a cooler with beer and water at her camp every day and then pop out for a beer, some shaded down time and some always interesting company when the mood struck. It was kind of an advance base for our operations.

yeah this is what got me most excited - investing in the property is a huge win for all of us.
fwiw this is the same contractor that is currently working on Coran Capshaw's new pad, so that adds another strange twist....

You said "at the Lockn site". That doesn't necessarily translate to "the promoters are looking at installing permanent infrastructure". It could be the owners of Oak Ridge Farms are looking to install permanent bathrooms at their racetrack. Net result would still be permanent bathrooms at the track, most likely in the VIP or artists area. IF that were the case I'm not sure how much can be read into that.
It well could be the promoters and you just said "at the Lockn site".
But not even Bonnaroo, who owns the farm in Manchester, has built GA restrooms. It would be like installing the infrastructure for a small city. I seriously doubt the land could handle a drainage field large enough to support 30,000 people.
Like someone said earlier, the real improvements I would like to see is to drill a few wells on the property for better access to water.

I used this information to entice my woman that we should put the dollars towards VIP. hopefully that works and I didn't lie to her....

And better bathrooms in VIP is a totally legit reason to upgrade. Air conditioned loos in VIP at All Good were one of the best perks going. Much better than a complimentary coffee mug. Although I still have the mugs.

drove by the site today after a hike nearby
looking good - they seemed to be doing some work near the day parking area (big ole pile of new gravel ready to rock), and looked like possibly some paving supplies
it's such a beautiful spot - we were there right at sunset
