Post by cbusdeadhead on Feb 7, 2018 11:32:05 GMT -5
1) What is the best time to arrive? Do we need to be there on Wed night or is Thurs a.m. ok?
2) Will we need bikes to get around the festy from the RV lot? Or is it pretty easy to walk to the stages?
3) Any nice/fun tidbits you would like to offer about RV camping at Lockn?
Thanks gang!!!! Looking forward to heading over from Columbus OH and catching this RIDICULOUS lineup!!

2. Depends on the stage location this year. If same setup as last year, no bikes. If in racetrack, bikes.
3. Try to get near a guy named MccJeffs site. He is the yearly winner of best campsite and if your lucky, his compound may sort of just meld into yours.

Wow, thanks!!! Great info!!! One last question. Since Thurs has been smooth sailing, Im assuming the "earlier the better?" Do you think 2:00-2:30 is late or ok?

1) Variable but 10-noon ish on Thurs has worked well for us the last 2 years.
2) Variable but we have not brought them. The first couple years we would not have made it back up the hill to the now defunct RV Ridge. Last year we didn't need them due to stage location.
3) Meet your neighbors and combine camps.
What happens if I take both?

As for better sites based on arrival, you don't know because they park the first arrivals at one end of the field and the last at the other end, but without regard to which is the "better" end.

2) We took bikes the first year and have not bothered to bring them back. The campgrounds can be quite hilly and dark, so not an easy ride. And with the new layout last year the walk was well under 10 minutes.
3) You will probably be on uneven ground, so bring what you need to level up your rig. I needed about 5 layers of 2x lumber under the tires one year.
We made friends with our neighbors a few years back and have been camping with them since. We meet in Lynchburg and enter the grounds together so we can park together.
Welcome and have fun!
