Is the order alphabetical based on name of color or is there some other hierarchy? 

I eat them in alphabetical order. First the M's and then the W's.

What happens when you get near the end of the bag and there aren't enough orange or green to complete the sequence? Is there a second sequence that kicks in or do certain colors just get dropped as they are consumed? Inquiring minds want to know...asking for a friend...

There is a hypothetical question, "If you were stuck on a deserted island, what candy would you take?". That is not a hypothetical for me. While in the Peace Corps on very remote island I asked for peanut M&Ms. This is the only thing I did not share. My last job had them in a self-serve dispenser. My current job only has the plain because of the god-damn peanut allergic. I say it is worth risking a few lives over. I still eat them daily and call them Vitamin M's.
