While I feel that staying on the farm is an integral part of the Lockn experience, not everyone feels the same way. Here is a list of some lodging options in Nelson County that may appeal to some of you.

If I were you, I would stay at home. I always stay in Lynchburg anyway.

I could save a TON of money, lots of packing and unpacking and setup and breakdown of camp but I would miss out on a huge part of the experience for me. It's great to be able to go back to camp for a break, a meal, a nap in the AC and having friends dropping by throughout the weekend. looseankles and Bob stopping by, hrpufnstuf looking for coffee in the morning, hondo and crew as neighbors. Plus the late nights with neighbors and friends discussing the music and events of the day. Waking up in the morning to bacon sizzling, Bloody Marys and mimosas doesn't suck either. If I were you I would stay in Lynchburg too. Me, I live here so I'm getting the hell out for the weekend!If I were you, I would stay at home. I always stay in Lynchburg anyway.

Staying on-site is without a doubt the experience I want. Just need to have a solid IBM plan in place - Integrated Buzz Management. Mostly session IPAs with some imperial IPAs mixed in. A key component is the 11:00 pm Red Bull for the late night set.
One of my favorite parts is making friends with the neighbors and seeing them the next year.
I fucking can't wait.

This is a great list, TOO.
I stayed at Afton Mt. B&B over Memorial Day weekend. It was pricey ($200) and typical B&B. The owners were nice enough but like things quiet, I think. It's about a 20 minute drive from Lovingston, mostly 2 lane. It's close to 250 which is why we stayed there for an event nearby.
Across the road was the Wild Man Dan beer-centric and while the house was ordinary for a B&B, the name gives it a vibe more conducive to Lockn.
I think the Inn at Blue Mountain is a whole-house rental.
There was a scary one close to the top of Afton back in a hollow but don't recall the name, so look carefully at what you book.
The old motel at the top of Afton at the junction of BRP, Skyline Drive, 250 and I-64 has one part that is still functioning, barely, and an abandoned section that appears to be inhabited by squatters.

A church group bringing clothes and water. A guy selling popcorn out of a food truck. Prospective buyers inspecting a room. A winding road with vines going up the back getting narrower and narrower, foggier and foggier. Then the two storey unit at the top, occupied; the office was one of the rooms. I can vouch for Village Inn. I stayed there when they had the free Tedeschi Trucks concert and debuted the Blue Ridge Bowl. Very short drive from the show and walking distance to Vito's if you're willing to cross the highway.

We originally had an AIRBB but cancelled it the other day. It is only 10 minutes from the fest. If anyone is interested in staying off site, this is a really good option.

Staying offsite is no big deal if you're just hitting the venue for 5-6 hours of music or so.
When the music starts early in the afternoon and there's raging until 3 or 4 in the morning, I just don't consider staying offsite.

I agree. Staying off site is not a huge deal, unless you start getting into doing a bunch of back and forths, then it becomes a pain in the ass. Nice to have a home base on site, too.
