So I've been twice. First year field of (oh wait) do not mention that (car camping line), and 2 years later in a hotel taking the shuttle. This year I'm flying into Charlottesville around noon on Saturday, and if everything falls into play correctly, I should be knocking on Lockn' festival gates about 2:30ish. Can anyone give me any advice coming in as a late arrival with minimal gear in car camping (Very small rental)? Something xtra I should bring from Wally?

Can't predict lots yet because we don't know the order they will load them in, but if it's like last year, the Oak Ridge section near the show field entrance was the last one filled.

The food I had was great. Love the Gouda Boys. For a real treat see if you can track down an OG LOTZACheese grilled cheese sammie...I know there was healthy food, I just didn't eat any. Vendor list will be released **soon**...

Unfortunately I'm Gluten Free due to RA (I love my breads :{). Fortunately my health has improved greatly since I changed my diet! Enough that I can join all you crazy's for a serious party! So just trying to figure out if I need to bring what I need to live for a couple of days, or can count on some healthier options from the food vendors?

Agreed but the food in the past has been good, varied and healthy alternatives. If you have restrictions best to eat early as they might sell out esp. with a larger crowd.

I'm with ya. I found plenty of food options. If you're GF, you're probably used to finding something to keep you going and have less appetite than the carb-addicted. The ultra-allergic celiacs might be challenged. Bring some decent plastic cutlery since you won't have the convenience of holding a sandwich, sporks are few and far between and don't work well for anything. Peace Tacos were my fav in previous years... Corn tortillas. I've found that cider on ice is much more refreshing than a beer when it's hot. There were a few good cider vendors last year.

It's not like carnival food. There may be a few carny-type vendors, but they're the exception. It's more like the food-truck options you see in the city or other festivals.

When I first started doing camping festivals I'd bring food and never eat it 'cause the food vendors were so good at the fest. Now, I just bring coffee and something for a quick breakfast bite in the a.m. The breakfast and coffee lines can be pretty long in the a.m. KIND bars are good in a pinch. Festival food has become a big part of the experience for me. I have my list of go-to food vendors I look forward to every year, stuff I can't find at home.
