Sorry, I'm not following. If there is only one camping option (excluding single days), why can't someone that has a weekend pass (Fri-Sunday), be allowed to enter the campground on Thursday? They paid the same price as someone that is going for 4 days, but don't have access. Shouldn't they just not be allowed to enter the actual festival? Isn't that a reason to have the scanners as you go in? Please note: This forum is in no way officially associated with Lockn' Festival or its promoters.

4-day “Festival” ticket buyers are permitted to enter campgrounds when the tolls open on Thursday morning.
3-day “Weekend” ticket buyers are permitted to enter campgrounds when the tolls open on Friday morning.
That's kind of jacked up to make those that have a weekend pass, pay for a 4 day camping pass and not even be allowed to camp Thursday-Sunday.

There's no way, once you are in, for them to find you and get you out on Sunday (v. Monday). That's why it's called a weekend pass.

I think they want as many people there the whole weekend as possible.

I think I get your question, why a person can't go to the camping area but not the music area on Thursday with a three day (Fri-Mon) pass?
First, few fests will allow campground only access; they don't want people who come just to hang around (and listen over the fence) and they want people in the music venue where the vendors are.
Second, there are big costs associated with just having the campground. Everyone has to pay to play.
Three day weekend pass is 279 Fri - Monday am
Four day festival pass is 319 Thurs- Monday am
You pay $40 more for Thursday.
Camping is a flat fee except single day.
