I've been lurking around on here for some time now but thought the time has come to stop in and say hello! This will be my first time at Lockn, though I've been going (or dragged as my younger self might've thought) to shows now for the majority of my short 26 years thus far. I was just wondering if any of you would like to offer some insight on what to expect.
I'm also curious to the types of crowds I can expect considering the amount of different groups that will be playing. I'd really like to avoid the whirlwind of 20-something walking shit shows, but understandably that is inevitable lol. I'm also going to be forest camping and was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for camp placement, etc.
Was also wondering if there has been anything that you had brought with you in the past that you thought you'd need/use but never did, and vice versa.
All in all, I'm really hoping to connect myself with what seems like this very sound and supportive community. Any feedback is appreciated :-)

There are many people your age (26) but a very large contingency that are your parents' age, but they are all a lot cooler. There will be some "walking shit shows" but only enough to make it amusing and not enough to be annoying. Some of that, of course, is driven by who's on the stage at the time.
Overall the crowd is very friendly and open, as is the group that participates in this forum.

1. I'm with you when it comes to the 20 something walking shit shows- its not my cup of tea. I am a 20 something and i love to over indulge, but cmon man keep it together. This is my 3rd Lockn, and I've yet to experience anyone being unfriendly or belligerent- everyone i've crossed paths with on the farm has just been lovely.
2. I am peanut butter and jealous that you're forest camping, i'm tent only camping again- but one of these days i'll have to check out the forest.
3. When it comes to packing, you don't want to be unprepared, but you don't want to look like you're prepping for the end of days. One thing i will be bringing this year that i've missed previously is a thin long sleeve t shirt to throw in my day bag- i catch the chills easy at night especially once i've stopped dancing- so it was definitely one of the first things ive packed so far.
I will say this! If you are bringing a guy with you, you could be a really awesome life saver and pack goldbond powder. He will forget it, or if he hasn't been to a multi day festival, he won't even know how much he requires it, and he will be very sorry.
These next 3 items, are as much of a game changer for me as gold bond is for my husband:
- Backpack chairs. ones that can recline are even better- "$40 for a chair??" you may ask... I've had mine for 2 years, and it goes everywhere with me- my kids soccer games, family gatherings, beach trips, rivers, festivals- i think its a good investment. - chair
- A portable camping fan. I hang it in my tent to keep it cool (and it REALLY works) and on super hot days like all of Lockn 2016, you just carry it with you everywhere (fan) Not sure if we'll need it till Sunday this year.
- Clip on Umbrealla- These bad boys are my jam. $6 at Dicks, and being in the shade during the day time sets makes a huge difference in conserving my energy levels for the evening. Clips right on to your chair. chair umbrella
Wishing you a magical Lockn' my friend!!!!

In terms of the forest camping - I originally had tent camping and happened to go on the lockn site and saw that they had tickets available for forest camping so I exchanged! You are always welcome to stop by. We will have bubbles and burritos
