Welcome to the Lockn' Forum - The home of the original Lockn' Music Festival family!
Don't blame Phish. Blame Ween for the weather. But there is more to it than that: Consider this: at L2 we had the evacuation when WinWood was to play with Widespread. Same year Wilco was annoyed by a rainbow. At L3 that storm hit on Wednesday. Widespread played twice. As did Warren. L4: ween, Wulfpeck, Peter Wolf. White denim. Heat wave L5: great weather; no prominent W's. L6: great weather; the only brief sprinkle was just before K. Williams (but no weather issues when he was billed Keller and the Keels). Don't blame Phish. Blame Ween for the weather. But there is more to it than that: Consider this: at L2 we had the evacuation when WinWood was to play with Widespread. 2018 minor irritations

2. Add more staff/lines to make the field security check point go smoother. Open it earlier in the day too
3. Add more food vendors in the campground, particularly ones that serve breakfast
4. that p-funk set....my god...I'm usually not a hater and I can always find a way to enjoy myself in a festival setting even if a particular performance isn't top notch...but my god.

Glad I’m not the only one with this sentiment. I’m not much of a P-funk fan so I wasn’t thrilled about this set/time slot to begin with. I last saw them at Peach in 2014 and it was a good time. I try really hard not to have any negative emotions at a fest because at the end of the day live music is live music and you’re only there for 4 days so why waste it on complaints. I figured I could just groove a bit and get ready for Panic during that set. Instead I was counting down the minutes until it was over and feeling embarrassed to even be there. I think I had 3 beers during that set alone because well, it made it a little more tolerable and I didn’t care about waiting in line during that set.

I noticed throughout the campgrounds either abject ignorance or mass color-blindness, with both the trash and recycle bags filled with mixed items.
Too bad. You would think this crowd especially would have been more conscientious. And unlike at home, the bulk of the recycle stream was just cans and water bottles.

It really didn't look to me like Lockn put much of an effort into it. I have long (and often) said that a Grateful Dead (and related) audience is like a bunch of 5-year olds. Fun is the objective, and distractions the norm.
To do the recycling right, you need lots (and lots) of receptacles that are clearly labeled. Having blue bags as the recycling container is contrary to what I have at home where green is king for recycling. And rules regarding what can be recycled vary wildly with your location. So they start with confusion and go downhill from there.
The labeling should go overboard. Each container should have it's own sign - CAN & BOTTLES - PAPER RECYCLING - NON-RECYCLABLE TRASH. There should always be trash and recycling containers side by side. They should display more slides during/between/before/after the shows to encourage recycling.
So: Keep it simple, keep it ubiquitous, keep reminding/encouraging people to do it. (You know, like you have to do with a 5 y/o.)
It seems to me, that Lockn made a greater effort with recycling in the early years, but now it is just limited to handing out bags on arrival. To be fair, maybe it's just with the venue redesign, I don't get to that part of the farm where they pile up the recycling.
Crickets and cicadas sing... A rare and different tune...

We didn’t have any issues with security or with the new rules. It is what it is.
I’m a P-funk fan. But, I would agree that this was not their best performance. We went on a beer run too.
