House rentals and/or Hotel rental experiences/advice

We went rv last year and will again this year. It worked perfect for us. Closer to the music than the car camping but still able to carry all the niceties of comfortable camping. It was also a great mix of folks for us. It turned into a real "we're all in this together" bonding with some friends that we hadn't gone to a fest with before. The A/C for sleeping till 11 or 12 every morning was crucial to my festival plans. I love to camp and have good gear but an rv provides substantial protection from really bad weather, which we didn't have, but still. Also a more secure camp than tent only camping.

We had friends that got a house that was 30 min away. They pretty much had a private driver and a van so arranging rides in the morning wasn't too difficult. But if you didn't make the first shuttle it was at least an hour later before you could leave. The night rides became a very sore subject.

We had other friends that had a house or motel a similar distance away. They would drive a couple cars and park in day parking. That was multiple leaving times morning and night but required a designated driver. Especially for the late shift. One night the system broke down and they had to chair camp until an appropriately sober time in the morning.
