Had a great visit to Silverback Distillery on Rt. 151 in Nelson County on Saturday. What a cool place. Don't worry about getting too hammered while you are there. Due to some ABC law they can only serve you a total of 3 ounces of alcohol PER DAY!. I thought that they were kidding but they were not. I had a Smoky Old Fashioned that was to die for, truly amazing.
Was also told by an employee that Virginia ABC taxes them 54% on every bottle of liquor that they sell! That is just outrageous. Silverback is building another distillery in PA where they only have to pay 6% taxes on their liquor sales, who can blame them...
Picked up a bottle of Honey Rye Whiskey and some Strange Monkey gin, good stuff both of them.
