I was talking to a friend this weekend at the George Clinton show. He books bands at a local theater and we went to Lockn' together last year. He told me he emailed Lockn' and asked if they wanted to send him any promotional material to put up in his venue. They responded and said not necessary. Told him they had already sold as many or more tickets so far as they did all last year. The secret is out and it could get crowded up in the joint.

Seems a little odd considering they have been putting out posts/tweets for people to do marketing for them (e.g. street team)

Hats off to Dylan & Sneake for getting a pat on the back from the festival people. You know we all think you do a great job, but to have someone from the festival say you do a fantastic job is a big pat on the back. They are listening.

welcome welcome welcome! it's fantastic just to know that some of you fine folks that help put this show together are lurking around and listening to what we're saying. feel free to share any info, correct any bad info, or just join us in our excited talks about last year, this year, and years to come. the first year really got us all hooked and we can't wait to get back. we all really appreciate the hard work that you and everyone else puts into this amazing festival. good vibes to you, ma'amHi everyone,

And thank you for putting on such an amazing festival. I cannot say enough good things about Lockn'. I'm not being a suck-up when I say that Lockn' has persistently exceeded my expectations on multiple levels (and I know I'm not the only person who feels this way). Keep up the good work!

That right there is was makes a festival successful, listening to the fans. I don't know what your hand is in this festival but please, please, PLEASE don't let it turn into another Bonnaroo! Yes, we know the acts before they are announced - the announcements are planned very carefully. Love reading your predictions - and the wish lists. They do have an impact.That right there is was makes a festival successful, listening to the fans. Sneake, I noticed Bonnie didn't address your whole NY&CH thing. Could mean something, could mean nothing. It does keep alive the hope for Neil. I'm sure there is only some things she can say. Like she said "announcements are planned very carefully". So we can still dream. Don't know what the authorities have against the Wednesday arrival but it would ease the traffic to get in. Maybe Bonnie can shed some light on that.

Remember Bonnaroo started as a word of keyboard festival and it only took 3 years to blow up to an 80 thousand participant festival. So to quote my dad in reference to anything awesome "we adults can't have nothing good".

There's some interesting info in this article:

Most noteworthy is that they only expect a 10-20% increase in attendance. They aren't expecting more than 30,000.
That sounds great to me. Enough ticket sales to keep the festival in business, but small enough to be comfortable during headliner sets.

I wonder what the percentage of ticket sales have resulted in refunds. That also makes me wonder if more camping spots would open up.

I wouldn't expect this to balloon past 40-50k. More inclined that it would be under that.
That's probably a good number for the long haul.
With traffic and safety issues ....and it being in VA!

I would think the number of refunds will be pretty low, relatively speaking. What I think will be more effected is sales in the last 3 weeks leading up. I bet they have slowed considerably since the cancellation announcement.I wonder what the percentage of ticket sales have resulted in refunds. The site has room for 110K+ per Frey interview in 2013. The farm and supporting lands total close to 5000 acres. IMO The timing is "off" for that kind of turnout, when you rely on College age kids. But this Fest has proven to have a bit more than a touch of grey. That opens up the possibilities and the BANK.The tough part with this date...school!

Just looking at the top 17 colleges in Virginia alone there are about 130,000 college students within a four hour drive. The site has room for 110K+ per Frey interview in 2013.
