They took my BB gun going in.... But having done VIP x2 and GA x 2, VIP is a little more sedate and quieter, and to many sleep is essential. Along those lines, the VIP is somewhat more peaceful in the morning; there were incidents of wooks cranking tunes at 7:00 am at both GA locations--and one of them was from a vendor shop at Shakedown. Second time I went all Dad on them and shut it down. No regrets. Please note: This forum is in no way officially associated with Lockn' Festival or its promoters.

a couple of comments last year were that the tents and amenities weren't all that great, but of course that's subjective and no question you are paying a lot for convenience. A set-up is good for fly-ins.
Others can discuss the value of VIP and SVIP; I've done VIP x 2 and then GA x 2, and liked them both.
Have you been to any Lockns?

I have not attended before and may be alone which is why I love the perks of super vip.... plus the extra shows. Am dying to see the line up. Can't wait to make lots of new friends.

One thing about Lockn is that the people going solo--at every level--have no problem making friends, although it's easier in the VIP's just because of smaller logistics. But jumping in here is the best way to start off with about 150 friends in the next 270 days!

We do VIP RV and it is great. We had friends join us this year that did SVIP tent camping and said everything was great, except the tents get super hot, early. And it was actually mild this year until Sunday. Sunday made them say they would never do tenting again. For that money they said they would look into renting an RV. Which as I mentioned has great amenities.

My wife and I did SVIP RV. We own the camper so we always go RV. It's her idea to do svip, to be honest I would do GA if I was buying the tickets.
Having said that, if you go to Lockn you will have the greatest weekend of your life. If you do SVIP you will have about the greatest EXPERIENCE of your life.
This year the svip show with Taj Mahal might have made the $45,000 or whatever it cost worth it. I think about it every day.
Again, having said that, you could prolly see Taj Mahal at another venue for $75 or something. But would you go out of your way to see him? And there's something about the lockn mojo, it's just so awesome.

I can also chime in here. I have gone solo every time and have ALWAYS ended up hanging with people I have met there.
I have never done any of the VIP or SVIP stuff, just GA camping. In my opinion, if you are doing any non-VIP ticket, Forest Camping is the way to go. You are in the shade and are surrounded by great people. I can't emphasize too much how much of a difference the shade makes when it gets sunny and hot.
One small thing to consider - the VIP group tends to be an older crowd and the GA sections much younger. (Sorry guys, that's the way it is! The kids can't afford those tickets...) But it really does not matter. I'm one of the older set and have had no problems finding people to hang with. And the folks in the VIP area are every bit as friendly and welcoming as the GA crowd.
Regardless of where you end up, you will have a great time and great music. But smosey is correct. Starting with this forum gives you a head start on meeting people and a leg up on all the fun.

My non scientific research indicates that you have approximately 86.3% less chance to have someone poop in your car or cooler in VIP camping than GA.I can also chime in here. I have gone solo every time and have ALWAYS ended up hanging with people I have met there.

I attended solo and had a great time, met some nice people in the RV campground and in the venue, and also had some time to myself.
