Marcus King Band

We will be seeing them Thursday night in Blacksburg with Erin and The Wildfire opening.

Have fun and give us a report! I expect a lot from the new album, and more originals/fewer covers (oh well).

My guess is, just being Marcus King gets him into toga parties.

He was great at Newport News, too. Sold out at the door and the crowd was a mix of Old Guys and Yutes. Played to 12:30 and never even paused between songs.

Last song was on what looked like an ancient solid body Gibson with just one pick-up.

All original except an interesting version of Compared to What--played fast. I wrote it down for a few younger members of the audience to look up the Swiss Movement version today.

One jazz jam was all McLaughlin, Corea, Dimeola style.

His original music is original, not spin-off's of old Clapton/Traffic, Allman Brothers and Dead as one might expect from his fine renditions of those styles.

Funny, this was the first time I've seen him play in a bar when he was old enough to go to that bar!

I'm sorry--and surprised--he didn't come out to play with the opening band, but they were local so I doubt he'd even seen them before, and they played all originals, too. How about Erin?

I agree with your assessment of the toga party reference. His experience came from Animal House.

This guy is going places. It would be interesting to see the blend when he tours with Stapleton this summer.

It looks like hes playing at some festivals with overlapping dates. Instead of listing just the day hes at the festival they have every day of the festival listed.

love the Age of Aquarius tease at the beginning. Truly a classic. Marcus knows his classics; his father taught him well.

I guess I'll be seeing him at the Jubilee...
