Six years ago today VIP and Super VIP ticket prices were announced for the inaugural Interlocken Festival with Further, The Black Crowes and Neil Young (soon to become The Lockn Festival and without NY)...

I was in GA for this one. Might have even given TOO a shoulder ride. Those days are over.

What's the story behind the name change? And was it changed before the first festival actually took place, or between festivals Year 1 and Year 2?

As it turns out, there is another Interlocken festival, in Michigan IIRC. Well established but with a slightly different spelling (Interlochen). So the name was changed a few weeks before L1. Then there was a big hassle with the ABC enforcement people at L1, which almost resulted in no beer for L2, but fortunately it was resolved in Lockn favor.What's the story behind the name change? And was it changed before the first festival actually took place, or between festivals Year 1 and Year 2?
Then there was the derecho at L3, which resulted in cancellation of Thursday. Stuff happens.

I don't know if they were forced to change the name for legal reasons or just changed their minds (Maybe people thought the festival was in Interlaken, Switzerland as I did when I first heard of it. Not good for a festival in Virginia.) But it changed shortly before the start of Year 1.What's the story behind the name change? And was it changed before the first festival actually took place, or between festivals Year 1 and Year 2?
Year 1 was a clusterf**k from the concept right up until the music started playing. Neil Young cancelled and the Lockn' curse was born.
I don't recall if they had any branded merchandise to sell (also VERY bad for a festival) , but even the wristbands only said 'Festival'. Traffic was nightmarish - 8 hours from arrival to GA campsite - I decided then and there never to return. The campsite were also waaaaaaaayyyyy away from the music. Not really practical for any back and forth during the day.
But the shows were great and I have been there every year.

They woke us up at dawn and then we were through the gate by 8 and parked at our VIPRV site by 9 am. We were the first RV parked in that area and we were parked twenty feet from the gate. I chalk that up to a well executed plan on our part. We could go back and forth from the stage to camp in five minutes. Our experience was amazing from beginning to end and we've been back every year.
