LOCKN' 2019 Map Is Here!

The only thing I hope they somehow address that we cant see in this map is the walk for VIP car camping.

Having to go all the way around the pond to the back of the VIP and then back down the row is about as far as walking from the main entrance to garcias forest (I just farted around drawing lines in powerpoint to see the distances)

They need to open a gate and let us cut through the pond, or have a bridge over the pond!

First, your figures show gross revenues per sq. ft. but ignore the cost differentials, the biggest being building and running power to the RV sites. That makes them even less profitable.

More important, just like we consider voids when evaluating leasing commercial space, you can't just count the leased area (20'x20') but the lanes and spaces (ie voids) in the gross area. Car sites are tight against each other; RV's have lots of open space around them. Dredge up that really cool site plan someone purloined last year to see this. How many of each site per acre?

Finally, for cost, there is a per capita cost where the denser housing can cost more per square foot than the less dense. If six people stay in a Poppa Bear at $649, they pay $108 each. But four people in a car site at $169 pay $42 each. Yet the festival has costs per head of X for sanitation, water, medical, staff, insurance, logistics like gates. If that per capita is $50 per, you loose money on the car campers and make money on the RV's.

Tomorrow, we'll factor in the VIP/SVIP, and then the staff's facilities (they have their own campground).

The map makes me and my baby bear sized camper glad that we're not going. Though we likely would have had to pay the $100 premium to be ADA instead of baby bear because of Worf's ankle. I don't know. I think this just got too darned expensive for me, even if the dates did work. Which they don't. So I'm really just babbling and bitching.

Ooops my bad on the confusing of family for group car camping. I revised the table, but that leaves everything but forest the same price to the consumer. I realize there are other affiliated costs/revenue opportunities than this, but just looking at their pricing per square foot here.

I hope someone there is modeling the average spend per customer class and making decisions accordingly. That is the amazing thing about the bracelets. I know most people think they care about your comings and goings, but the biggest power could be in using them to find efficiencies that could mean the life or death of the festival itself.

I didn't see any provision for VIP or SVIP day parking in the 2019 map, ao I asked the nice folks at CID if dedicated parking would be available, as in years past. This is their response:

Currently, VIP and SVIP day parking passes are not being offered, but it's possible this will change in the future closer to the event. If anything changes, LOCKN will update their website with the information, so we recommend staying tuned there. If you have any other questions, feel free to let us know!

That's a bit annoying, since it is no greater trouble to have a smaller dedicated parking area as they have done before. MOre shall perhaps be revealed?
