Anyone ever contemplate whether to purchase the VIP pass even though camping in forest? Last year I had family with me and we wanted the VIP camping so no question to answer. This year I grabbed forest camping because I'm solo and want the cooler shade. I guess the main benefit of my VIP pass last year was the VIP camping area but I enjoyed the other benefits somewhat. That said, I wanted to be close to stage mainly just for D&C and I generally expect a smaller crowd this year. Seems likely it's not worth it to buy the VIP ticket. But maybe I'm missing something (ability to use VIP wristband to slip into VIP camping area showers? Not having to wait in lines to get into festival ground?). Thanks in advance for thoughts.

You could use the VIP wristband to access the VIP showers/bathrooms. You don't have to slip in because you are allowed there. You would also have access to the VIP meals and VIP viewing areas and bar along with free shoulder rides from the GA patron of your choice. Last year there was a sign up sheet for the GA to provide shoulder rides. This year you can just pick anyone that you want. Also this year there is a VIP bar on the shady side of the stage which will be nice. This was The Hang area last year. You won't be able to take advantage of the shorter VIP lines because you would have to walk all of the way around the show field to get to them. Not much of a benefit.

That being said it is up to you if you want to spend the extra money, and it is a lot of extra money, for these added benefits.

Seems like the biggest benefit, to a solo guy, is the viewing area--to some that's worth it. You can pay for a lot of showers and meals before you get the benefit of the "free" ones at VIP.
