Going to Lockn' Solo

Last year I went solo. Some people thought I was crazy, because they could never go to something like that and not know anybody. But I did, and I had a great time. I like the fact that I can go and do whatever I want, whenever I feel like it. I am glad the gf isn't into festivals and camping because I have a better time by myself. Sure, she is a great girl to have around anywhere at anytime, but I have more freedom when I'm at festivals. Our relationship is built on trust. I trust her, she trust's me. (besides, why would I want hamburger, when I got steak at home?)

Thru my son, I met a bunch of people on a facebook group and found out that they were also going to Lockn'. We worked out our camping arrangements before hand and since I was one of the first people thru security last year, I saved them a bunch of spots and most of us camped together. I still kinda did my own thing however. They were nice people and a lot of fun to be with, but I would wander around on my own at times.

Lockn fest has it's own genuine atmosphere and energy. Everyone I met was grate even if you accidently spilled your beer on them as you made your way to the rail. I had girls that were complete strangers just run up and hug and kiss me!
I had a freakin' blast last year when I went solo.

I've gone to a lot of fests and shows solo and this is all great advice. If you make an effort to meet people camping around you and at the stage, you'll never feel lonely.

Also being active on a Fest board is a great way to meet people. I originally went to Mt. Jam solo but met a great crew through the Fest forum. Also met a lot of people through the Wanee forum.

I attended Lock'n last year solo.  Once I got in line to get in I was among friends.  You will have a great time.

I usually over pack too. I don't like forgetting something that I might need. But last year was a learning experience for this year. This year I am only going to pack breakfast and lunch items and buy my dinners and late meals from the vendors. This saves more room for ice, water, and beer in the coolers, and all the fuss and muss of cooking while I'm partying.


I can eat this everyday for breakfast. These Hashbrowns are great! Ya just add some hot water and let 'em sit while you fry your bacon.
Then use a small amount of the bacon grease to fry them in.

I'm going alone too man .. none of my friends say they can afford it or they not big enough fans LOl. I'm a little sketchy about leaving my shit around too after reading some of the comments and I did go last year and experienced SPUN OUT WOOKS WALKING INTO the RV i was in and didnt even know his own name. You trying to find someone to camp with ? I am without vehicle for lockn but would be willing to (greyhound to you) pay half of car camping pass, bring BBQ supplies and food. have a mosquito tent ready. Do it up right ya know. Or just looking for a little info? Im 22 now and promise im not a dirty little wook LOL. I went to all good in 2012 to see Allmans alone. It had its ups and downs. neighbors did take me in and of course that was food and company. I took food and supplies of my own but just dont realize how much you eat and drink when you grab out of your own cooler ever time. Hard to bring enough supplies without looking like you are heading to iraq. I try to be a big tough guy but I will not lie to you man, it was lonely more often than I thought. Happiness is only experienced when shared.

Hi! I will be heading down solo as well from the Boston area...my first fest solo, but a festival veteran, so I'm not too worried. All the advice is wonderful and the general sense of community is always present...peace
