Based on this forecast Fri-Sun look pretty damn good with temps in the low 80's.

Also currently no tropical storm activity in the Atlantic so that's encouraging.

I like it warm, but then I'm from New Orleans.
Overall, looks like great weather if the forecast holds. Pop-up storms can be troublesome, though, you can end up with side-effects like Drunk Tom Petty.
Bring a jacket for late-night!!

I have a full range of rain gear that I bring. From a plastic cleaners bag that I can pull over my clothes for the surprise shower to full boating foul weather gear, I am totally prepared.If even one of you forgets to bring rain gear, you are totally responsible for any precipitation. Be warned.
It may be uber-geeky, but I have had everything I own get wet on a camping trip and it was pure misery.

I never trust a forecast thats more than 48 hours out, but this really looks promising. What I like BEST is it looks like we won't have to run that damn a/c unit! Lows in the 60's at night. OMG...open the windows and let the breeze IN! I never want to see heat like we had a coupla years back. The 100k gen set feeding us, died that year of sheer exhaustion. She was towed away & her brother was brought in. I do like what ima seein...but don't trust it yet!

**DOOLEYCASTER REMAINDER OF AUGUST PREVIEW**
As the poor woman below just found out, it will be extremely hot and humid this weekend, (Highs in mid 90's and heat index, or "real feel temps at 100 or above). Warm and humid air continue into midweek next week, but we see some rain and storm chances with intermittent clouds that may drop temps to below 90. The end of next week into the weekend, (August 23-26), we see a cold front pushing through. The question is how far south it goes. This will bring the most showers and storms Thursday-Friday, (August 22-23). Behind the storms, the Cold Front looks to make it to at least the Carolina coast, thus setting up rain and storms along the coast next weekend, but cooler and much less humid air for those NW of front in the main portions of VA, NC, MD, DC, WVA, TENN., KY...The following week,(August 26-29) sees a development of a trough in East midlands and points to the East. This will allow for much cooler , drier air with much less humidity for the Labor Day weekend. Highs around 80, lows in upper 50's and less humid. Basically an early Fall weekend.

So now we have the standard "chance of showers and thunderstorms". Welcome to the mid Atlantic. But it looks like the heat has stalled and won't switch off until Friday (was Thursday) and you can always expect some rain during the transition, although often brief, especially if it's not an east wind.
Twain said, everyone complains about the weather and no one does anything about it.

If the front is coming from west to east and we get an easterly wind, will that slow the storms down to cause more chance of rain (as opposed to a west wind blowing it through as quickly as possible...), or are you thinking the east wind holds the storminess off? you can always expect some rain during the transition, although often brief, especially if it's not an east wind.

east would stall the prevailing westerly flow. On the coast it would throw a lot of humidity up in there; not sure about that effect in the valley

Not looking good, but who knows...There's been a lot of days up in the DC area where they have called for T-storms and nothing.

Same in Richmond and even when we do have a t-storm blow through, it lasts for less than 15 minutes. The greatest chance for storms is Friday but I have faith the Gods are with us.Not looking good, but who knows...There's been a lot of days up in the DC area where they have called for T-storms and nothing.
