It is with great sadness that I share this news. We lost one of our own today. Gavin "fishinhatteras" Sneed lost his battle with cancer today after a 2 year fight. Fuck Cancer. I'll will share arrangement details when they become available.

What sad shocking news! I was just thinking about him yesterday and wondering... A kind soul and very helpful the year I ventured to Lockn on my own and couldn't set up alone. He kept texting to check in on me. Rest easy friend. Condolences to his family and friends.

At first glance, Fish struck me as the kind of guy to start trouble. Hell, if you got enough drinks in him, maybe he even was. I only ever really hung out with him once, outside of Lockn, and after getting to know him a little what struck me instead was how kind, generous and easy to get along with he really was. And that's why we never judge a book by its cover. My heart breaks for Mallory and all who loved him.

His sister-in-law said on Facebook that there will be a Celebration of Life gathering sometime in January.

Nooo! I saw he looked sick this year, but didn’t get a chance to have a conversation at the meet up. Such a genuinely nice man. He would get teared up just talking about good times a beautiful music. My best to his family.

I had heard before Lockn this year that Gavin was gravely ill. He assured me that was all was going to be ok, and that is Gavin. In conversations with him I had the tacit impression that he may have taken some comfort in religious faith.

I didn't really know him but did the the opportunity to chat with him for quite a while at the meet & greet. He seemed to be a very caring, happy soul. I wish I could have gotten to know him better. Also met him and spoke with him in significant detail on random topics at the meet & greet. It is really touching that such things can happen, to get such insight from someone we (I, in this case) just met.
May his spirit travel freely and fondly among us, and throughout the universe now - the greatest thing we look forward to - "...winds that blow, glints on snow; ripened grain, autumn rain..." (trad.).
