Youu will love it. Having the RV on site at Lockn is so great. The biggest bonus is being able to sleep in. When sleeping in a tent, it gets warm quickly. The humm of the AC is a white noise that blocks out any outside commotion. In VIP, the spots are level, it's close enough that you'll hear any soundchecks or music from the stage, the search going in and out is super fast, easy, and non-intrusive. 
I know! This shit is adding up. We are probably going to still come down for Saturday and Sunday. I try to justify this crap in my mind financially, then I end up going regardless. Lockn' is some kinda crazy expensive. Never done VIP ever, and thought it was finally time to get after it. Gotta be careful not to shoot your load to early. Lol. I’m in Indiana, if you go To Deer Creek we’ll have to meet up. 3 Day Lawns are only $135 plus fees. Deals!!! I feel you though. Since X-Mas i’ve Had to buy Hog Farm Hangout $350, SCI Nashville $180, SCI Red Rocks/Dillon 5 day $275, Lockn $500, plus Deer Creek Black Crowes, Jimmy Buffet, Alanis Morisette, TTB, Lynyrd Skynyrd and now I gotta pony up for 8 Phish tix (3 Deer Creek, 2 Nashville, 3 Dicks). There’s still probably 3 Dead & Co dates for me to buy. Shit is getting real on my bank statements. 
We had never done it before L1 and have been back every year since. We bring bikes and we hop on and in under two minutes we are leaving them at the VIP entrance gate. Never lock them and never have any issues. Bikes will let you get around the farm much easisier and if my fat ass can do it, most can.

Doing an RV for a fest has always been a bucket list for me. No better fest to fulfill my bucketlist wish;) Said, I have no clue what I am doing with this RV. Never drove one and never slept in one. We are driving down from chicago, and I rented an a 39FT RV that they guy is going to drop off a few miles from the fest for me. Should be interesting. Figured its been long enough and it was time to do this. What is the VIP viewing area like? Youu will love it. Having the RV on site at Lockn is so great. The biggest bonus is being able to sleep in. There is a dedicated VIP viewing area up front. It's not along the entire stage, but at least half of it. You scan your wristband to get into the area. You can get close to the rail with much less effort than the GA section. There's a bar and some port-o-potties there, an area to the side with picnic tables where you really can't see the stage, but there is a monitor there . Water and sodas are free from the VIP bar. Additionally there is a VIP lounge. It has AC but if it's hot and crowded, it get warm. The lounge area also has an outside area gated off. Both the lounge and outside area have seats available. I'd video any instructions the RV guy gives you so you can use it as a reference. Also, check out the RV tips and tricks thread.

I was planning on video taping the walk though. I read that in the tips. I scrolled through all the tips, didn't really understand a lot of it because I have never done it, but I am a pretty quick study, so I think I should be all good. One thing that I found a little weird was the guy I am renting from wanted to come into the fest and set up his RV? Not sure if they would let him in to do this, as I am sure I would be able to do it myself which I told him. Still in the planning stages with the renter, but I am sure it will all work out easy....I hope. Happy to help out. Hearing the music from camp is huge for me. This way, we can hang there some too. Our group is comprised mainly of three. We'll all be 60 by then and have been close friends for 50 years. We live within two hours of each other, but family and life prevent us from spemding as much time together as we'd like. Being able to hang out under the pop up, drink some of our own beers, and catch up while listening to the undercards is a big reason I don't bat an eye about paying for VIP. We'll often watch half of an undercard set, head back to camp for the last half of that set and the first half of the next before going back. This way we can be on the show field for part of each set. It's so easy and convenient. I can never go back to GA.That's awesome. I thinking this is going to be better than ever. ALL of this! This is exactly the reason. No worries, miss nothing even from the site. Perfect. We are in our 40's and I have had a major back surgery over the past few years so sleeping in a tent or air mattress just totally messes with me for days. Figuring with good sleep, AC, and showers I will be good to go for the weekend! Hanging at the site and still missing nothing is awesome. It's just the wife and I heading out, we don't know anyone in the area except the folks I chat with on this board. So excited to meet you and the rest of the folks.Happy to help out. Meh. I'm as bad as anyone else. For instance: I can tell you that even a 10' teardrop camper is waaaaay better than a tent in a field with no shade at 8am in the summer.

Raff I have a question for you. The RV owner is dropping off an RV for you a few miles away correct. Is this a Class A or B (one that you can drive) or is it towable like a travel trailer or a fifth wheel?
I completely understand the guy wanting to set up the RV. At LOCKN 2014 my friend had his RV dropped off and setup for him but I'm not sure that you could pull that off now. You need a wristband to even get in to the campgrounds so this would be tough. The reason I ask about being driving or towable is if you have to tow it you need the hitch etc. to hook up to it and pull and you need a stout truck to pull a 39 footer. if you have a link or pictures add them here. I will help all that I can if you land near me.

I love my campsite set-up and my vehicle, but I think about it for back-up if we have bad weather. BTW it's so old it came with a cassette player so I had someone to whom to give my big box of tapes!

I get that, but there was some rare tunes, and great mixes, in that box, and a couple of autographs. I can use the covers to make new Spotify lists.
I am glad they are enjoying them. Some were my dad's jazz tapes he made, with his handwriting on them.

What year, and was there a coachmaker, or was it do-it-yourself model? I'm a big fan (and promoter) of Class B RVs, and I attend with a 19-foot Coachmen B on a Chevy, 1996. Cassette as well so I can play old Dead tapes! Pleasureway and Roadtrek built a lot on Dodge back in the day. Class B's at Lockn are the way to go!
