What annual events/traditions to do have with your friends? Anything out of the ordinary or really cool? Always looking for cool ideas. Here is ours.
12 years ago my buddies and I were trying to figure out a way that we could always meet up once a year. 4 of the guys are in Chicago and 4 in Minnesota. With kids and jobs, it was always difficult. Could never meet on the same weekend for a show, so we figured we would do an annual meet up that the wives and everyone always knew would be the weekend every year, so that weekend was always saved. In order to make it interesting, we decided to do a golf bet for the Masters. We all suck at golf mind you, and don't know much about the players, but it's good getting outside for 5 hours doing stupid shit with your brothers. Regardless, we do a 8 man snake draft where each guy gets four golfers. The four lowest have to caddy for the top 4 AND wear a caddysuit. It's pretty crazy. We have been doing it 11 years. Friday we party it up and try to catch a show where ever we are even if its local band, Saturday we golf and make a huge dinner that the guy in first place gets to choose, and Sunday we all leave with a two week hangover. These are guys I have been hanging with and seeing shows with since 1995, so getting together once a year is awesome. We all did one fest ALL together. Phish NYE Big Cypress. Last year we got lucky and Phish was playing the same weekend as our event at Alpine. Nuts.
