A totally outsider needs some help
Post by ido on Jun 27, 2014 8:08:38 GMT -5
My name is Ido I'm coming from Israel to the Lockn' Fest.
I've never been in a festival like this and I'm pretty excited about it.
I'm sure that I'll find company quite quickly especially in the camp site.
There is one thing I'm most worried about and it's the way to arrive the fest site from charlottesville on Thu morning.
Still don't know where I gonna stay the night between Wed to Thu, but I can't find any info about getting to site by public transportation, shuttle services, whatever ..
any tip?
Thank you

You can rent a car in Charlottesville.
You can try to get a ride with somebody who is flying into Charlottesville and renting a car, or somebody driving through Charlottesville. You can post here and on Facebook fan groups to try this.
There is not public transportation between Charlottesville and the festival site.
Your best bet, if you need Wednesday overnight anyway may be to stay at one of the festival hotels and see if they will include a ride on their shuttle on Thursday morning. I think that would be pretty easy but the shuttle is generally being sold w/ a weekend package. Fairfield Inn, Holiday Inn, and Hyatt place in Charlottesville are all offering shuttle packages. You should try calling them directly.

Here's a list of local hotels and resorts that have shuttle packages. You'll have to scroll down through the camping, car and rv passes first. Also, here's a Google Maps link that shows public transportation from Charlottesville. It's long, convoluted, runs once a day at an inconvenient time, and won't even get you directly to the Oak Ridge Farm. The only shuttle package that's sold separately from the hotel is the one that runs from the Wintergreen Resort, as far as I know.
The type of folks who attend these fests are, generally speaking, very kind. You might be able to hitch a ride, if you ask enough people nicely. You can post on the rideshare thread once you know where you're lodging, too. Hope this helps.
BTW, what made you decide to come all the way from Israel for this particular fest?

Well, I will try all those options and send some e-mails . I just wanted to know if I'm missing a point.
Concerning your question , my trip to the USA is assembled from stops with good music and good vibes, Lockn' is one of them.
Thank you

First off, welcome to the forums! Great to have you. Second, I'm very interested in hearing your plans for your US trip! I'd love to hear about what other stops you plan to make. Maybe we can make some suggestions!

Basically the idea to come to the US is as I said some good music, but, we all know that it's not a cheap hobby, so I do it in parts.
