A couple months ago Ann was bit on hand by a snake. Little fellow, just waking up from his winter nap, tagged her in our driveway. She got to go to ER, and spent the night in hospital.We just got a "this is not a bill" for one dose of anti-venom and one bag IV fluid (D5, saline, or whatever)... $49,439.Moral:Don't get bit by Water-headed Copper Moccasins

I hope that was a mistake but wouldn't be surprised if not.
And the small copperheads are the worse, because being teenagers they want to shoot their venom any time they can. Older ones often bite without injecting, and they are easier to see and avoid. The small ones are particularly hard on dogs.
