I found the porta-potties at Lockn' to be not too terrible. Never found one that was full to the top or anything...not by the stage and not at camp (though I was camped at the very back of car camping too, so it's possible our potty area was less utilized than other camping areas). Of course I always travel with baby wipes and extra TP in my day bag. And ladies....just remember never to wear a romper at a festival. Porta-potties are bad enough with out having to strip down naked to use them! I agree for the most part that the Lockn' portas were pretty clean. The one exception was the one by the fence line where someone laid a log around the back corner of the seating area. I am not even sure how you DO that. I had to loiter a bit to watch some other reactions.

That is one of the main reasons to go RV. Doesn't help on the concert grounds but at least the major business can be somewhat scheduled for your convenience.

At smaller fests we always set up a privacy tent. Partially because we sleep in hammocks and changing clothes in a hammock is a recipe for disaster and we also set up a 5 gallon bucket private shitter. Not what you want to use every time but for late night use or if the regular ones aren't being maintained it can be a life saver.

And finally, at Wanee you are able to rent your own private porto that they set up in your camp and service once a day. It is a beautiful thing.

We have friends that think it is the greatest thing imaginable and have gotten their own setup. we have other festival friends that will go in a porto but are horrified at the thought of a plastic bucket with a seat lid, a plastic bag liner and some cat litter. As far as randoms not really. We had one REALLY spun guy that we watched try and figure out how to open the door. We had an unlocked padlock thru the hasps but it was daunting for him. He finally got it open and stepped in so I walked over to greet him on the way out and gently inform him of the private nature of this particular porto. He emerged wide eyed and said "Man, somebody really blew that place up but it wasn't me." Yea... but I can empty my bag in the convenience of my tent with a fan on me & dispose of it quickly. Yea a little smell maybe but no 120 deg plastic box.

AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Just before I read this I took a look & said damn adhesive is loose on one side but it better hang on till morning. Then I check the boards & see the 4 sweaty days. I had tears in my eyes. But I'll def have plenty of extra supplies.
