Too far to do multiple weekends so JRAD wins
Bob would be interested in joining me for a weekend of JRAD but I’d be flying solo for Goose. I hear ya. How about a stay there parking area. For me a JRAD into Goose 10 day stay on the farm would totally work as long as I could camp under TOO's new camper.
Seriously I would love to be the old guy at Goose for 3 days but I think JRAD beats them out for only doing 1 weekend.

So if the August events are not "Lockn'" what would they be called? What is the most likely name for the venue other than Oak Ridge Estate? Do they still use Blue Ridge Bowl (which ties in with Pete's other bowls)?

Adding other concerts/concert weekends to the venue makes total sense and seems to be the next logical step (similar to "Concerts on the Farm" series at the Bonnaroo venue) considering the infrastructure is already in place. Infinity Downs can easily support an amphitheater size crowd from a venue size and (relatively) nearby population perspective. Bonnaroo is not doing camping for "Concerts on the Farm" and wouldn't be surprised if Pete decides to follow the same model. MUCH cheaper to run them as single events without having the full staff/vendors/etc. to support a much smaller crowd for weekend camping. There are definitely plenty of hotels near Roo because of its proximity to Nashville. Manchester is directly on the interstate with several hotels, so much easier in an out.true but the farm's remote location with virtually no hotels around requires camping, even if primitive--I believe 'roo is isolated, too, but doesn't it have more accommodations nearby?Or something cheesy like "Blue Ridge Bowl @lockn". It really depends on their attendance target. I wouldn't think anything above 15k would be realistic unless they are pulling in a really big name or treating it as a smaller festival.
When it comes down to it, you may be right that accommodation viability is the limiting factor. I'm just think of the additional cost to staff and support an event that is 3 days long with most people staying on site.
Back in the earlier days, there seemed to be a lot of single day attendees for the big shows...but I couldn't find any hard numbers from the past on those.

any drive over 10 miles is a non-starter. And there, the distance is irrelevant; Lynchburg is fairly easy but C'ville is not and Roanoke is out of the question, as is Lexington with lots of rooms and a killer drive.

Came back from Rooster last weekend, got a small fest this weekend...pretty easy for me to dry off my equipment and throw it all back in the trunk. See y'all this Aug if not sooner.

Are you going to About Time Festival this weekend? I want to go on record, a year or two ago, when I called smaller events happening more frequently on the farm.
Came back from Rooster last weekend, got a small fest this weekend...pretty easy for me to dry off my equipment and throw it all back in the trunk. See y'all this Aug if not sooner.
