Darn ballers don't understand GA economics.
$499 for this 3 day event is much less than the $899 we pay for Lockn for 4 days. Plus TTB so...Good lord. I finally just looked to see how much it would cost. $499 for an RV pass for a 3 night festival?!?!?!
I'm actually relieved that I can't go. Because the TTB weekend alone would have cost us almost as much as the full Lockn' with early entry.

kind of what gave me the idea smosey
I sorta attempted that by starting a separate thread for each but I have neither the skills nor the power to do more--story of my life....Thinking of creating new boards for each event, new banner at top, get rid of countdown clock, etc. Freshen up and adapt. Need to to consult with Sneake first. Message being, we ain't going nowhere !!

The music is good and all but I must admit I come to Lovingston for the Chicken Coop www.yelp.com/biz/chicken-coop-lovingstonyes I think it will become more of a local fest if this is all they do in years to come. However, it would be a nice trip to a great part of the country to come for two consecutives and travel around some during the weekI think that if you love change you live nearby. Glad you all have have a great venue in a place I love but 3000 miles isn’t worth it for me. After what they’ve done in the previous years that would attract me. I hope that we get music like you guys get pretty soon love you all

You are such a strong part of the glue that holds this forum together. Even lurkers help in their own ways(just fucking comment already). As looseankles elegantly mentioned we are long past the Formerly Lockn Fest as a community. I'm proud to be part of the people I have met because the Formerly Lockn Fest. 
Smosey- Lockn Forum may have started as a place for info on Lockn but has become much more ... SO MUCH MORE! This is not fare thee well but see you **soon** at another event on the farm, another festival, show or camping trip. You know our love won’t fade away! I could not be more bummed out--especially now that things are opening up everywhere. And not to add a personal whine but August is always tight for everyone.

Quite seriously. Wouldn't many bands travel and play for free just for exposure plus kissing a huge promoters ass. So expensive with so little music. Shappy should just run a commercial: "Every 1000 tickets sold we will add a Tier 6 jam band and I if we sell 10K you get Andy Franco and The UN."Good lord. so this year's weekend is more than last year's. How do the prices at other festivals, great and small, compare to that festival's prices last time?
I’m pretty sure The Peach prices stayed the same. Hulaween went up to over $300, which is super high for pre-sale but about what they are at the gate. They used to be $199 pre sale & about $280 at the gate for 4 days of music. Red Rocks seems to have went up about $15-$20 a ticket, Phish & Dead and Co went up about $5-$10 and my local theater/auditorium went from $30 tix to almost $40 for bands like String Dusters, Keller, Jackie Greene, etc. I think prices went up across the board a little, but not as much as Lockn did. They want $600 for two people to come for a weekend, that’s really high I feel for what they’re putting out there. It shoulda been $149-$199 all in. Where I live, TTB is a $50 band, JRAD is about $45 & Goose tix are about $35 where I’ve seen them. So, $199 isn’t outrageous but to have to pay to camp on top of it is rude.

The bands and venues are using the anticipated surge when restrictions are totally lifted and people calm down to be able to do increases wherever they can because, well, because they can - with demand probably outstripping supply - and also because they need to. Running any organization requires money and with minimal cash flow for over a year, you take it where you can get it.

And by monkeying with fringe benefits like discounted early purchases, VIP benefits **snicker**, camping, parking and what have you, they can generate a lot of cash and still be able to say they held the line on admission/ticket prices.
This probably will only last this year. Next year (hopefully) as events are dispersed throughout the season, and the natural effects of competition, they will have to offer competitive pricing and options again. Remember - 2 years ago festivals were closing down left and right. Things will reach a new equilibrium, probably a little on the promoters side, but that's life.
Speaking of which, I don't mind some 'recovery' increases, because anything that helps this industry we consume 
helps out everyone down the line - staff, bands, technical people, vendors, BREWERIES etc... Even though most of it goes to the promoters and investors, it still provides badly needed income to all of those I mentioned. As this is discretionary spending for all of us, I am willing to absorb whatever increases it takes to get my fat ass into live music again.
For now...
Anyway, that's my simplified analysis. See whichever of you are on the farm at TTB and JRAD...

That's the analysis that caused us to stop looking at real estate this year. We shall see what 2022 brings...the world we grew up in, for good and ill, was a whole lot more predictable than this one, that's for sure. Hard to know whether equilibrium is even a thing anymore. Beginning of covid was prediction of basically a repeat of 2008-2010, only worse. I've been fortunate to be able to do Baby Bear RV with my 19ft Class B, so I forgot the higher price of mixed RV under one price point. I know the qualifications for Baby Bear cut most folks out from that class, and it is not available this August.Good lord. I forget, has there ever been an option for no hook-up RV camping? I know VW vans can work for tent car camping areas, but I believe no type of full scale RV.
I do suspect, campground rates probably grew for RVs in many areas in 2020. The first year they didn't offer power at all, until long after ticket sales, then offered an add-on for power at $100, an extra. I think the 2nd year they just upped the price and all the RV spots had power.

What is up y'all.. All the new thread email notifications were going to my spam email folder... I just figured nothing was happening world wide so not much to chat about in the Forum... I'm hitting up JRAD weekend, kind of bummed we don't get a full LOCKN' fest feel this year, but at least it's something better than another year of postponements & cancelation.. I'll be in the Forrest once again to spread some love & light, might try and make it to some of the Goose weekend as well, but that depends on some things... Can't wait to be back on the farm with all you wonderful LOCKN'eers dancing under the stars... Have a Grateful Day everyone!!!
