Does anyone know about access to the VIP RV section? Last year we had VIP camping and anyone could come to our site. Is that VIP RV section monitored as to who can access it? I know that back entrance you need a VIP bracelet to get in the concert area but can our GA friends get back to our RV if we are in that section?

I don't think it's a problem as long as they are accompanied by a VIP pass holder.

They definitely had people checking cred at those entrances last year. CriticalBill could be correct about having a chaperone - I don't know about that part.

We've had a bit of a discussion about it. At the end of the day, I guess no one's still very sure.

The site says in no uncertain terms:

Thanks folks - right I figured that, as with last year, the VIP areas (outside the music area) are quite permeable to GA guests. I also knew it would be a waste of time to ask officialdom.

I'm sure the fest trying to make money was part of the reason, but the ABC board is their biggest problem. If the see beer being passed over the fence, they will video trade the event, then charge the promoter in court.

To be fair, that one VA ABC agent was kinda acting like the stereotypical "fat Southern sheriff." Hillbilly ass Virginia?!! I am glad you hold the hosts of this festival, my friends and neighbors, in such high regard. Yeah, I may be from the wilds of Pennsyltuckey, not VA, but I take hillbilly or redneck as a complement. My dad's family were literally Appalachian hill people, and they did everything themselves. They grew their own food, they pickled, processed and canned it, and they made their own beer and wine and sometimes whiskey (I know NOTHING about that
). Were they uneducated, hyper-religious and socially backward? Yes, but it seems to me a lot of hipsters and hippie-type folks have adopted their lifestyle.

That is the way most VIP that I have seen are run. And part of the reason for going VIP. I know at All Good at Marvin's we were happy that it was restricted access.

Last year there the entrance to SVIP/VIP car camping and tent rental camping was wide open. The gate directly by the GA entrance (near the back of the stage)...that gate was unattended for at least 2 days.
We didn't notice it until day two...and promptly commented on it. At that point they started to have someone there. The entire show has security at the SVIP/VIP RV area...and they always checked wrist bands.

Maybe that explains why a wookie was trying to set up camp next my buddy's RV. When told to "move along" he started to set up in neighbors spot.
