Forgive me, I wasn't clear. The starch must be hand-held. Corn-dogs come on a stick.

A cone is an edible stick. An ice cream cone is a dessert corn-dog.

You're all overlooking the obvious. It has nothing to do with the bun/roll/bread, it's the shape of the meat. A cylindrical or tubular piece of meat precludes it from being a sandwich.

My answer was not necessarily eloquent, I just responded with what I thought a sandwich was, sliced meat between two pieces of bread. Except for tuna salad, or peanut butter and jelly, which are both sandwiches using two sliced pieces of bread. Except a sub sandwich which could have sliced meat but uses a single sliced bun/roll. Or it could have tuna, which is not sliced meat but uses a single piece of sliced bread. Or an open faced sandwich which may have sliced meat but uses a single piece of sliced bread. In the end we agreed that there are more questions than answers but a tubular, cylindrical piece of meat, such as a hot dog is NOT a sandwich, no matter how you slice it...
