I had two random folks stop me at the TTB show Saturday night and ask me "Sir, is a hot dog on a bun a sandwich?" My response was "Absolutely Not!" to which they got a good chuckle. I then went on to justify my response but I'll save that until I've heard some of your answers.
After you answer the poll tell us why or why not a hot dog is NOT a sandwich.
Did I mention I'm Greek?

No fair going to google, wiki, etc.
I say no because the meat (contents) are not between two pieces of bread, but in one piece of bread.
That of course calls into question the submarine, properly made with one attached side.
I recall when working on a project with a fast food business, and the suits called the burgers "sandwiches" and it didn't ring right with me; I guess a bun isn't bread in my upbringing.

I know that but (a) this would be an open-faced hot dog sandwich by my theory and (b) that bread is a hot dog bun, a hamburger bun, garlic bread AND sandwich bread to some folks....The poll specifically said "on a hot dog bun", which that picture is NOT!
But in your question, is the hot dog bun split on the side or on the top?
