LOCKN 2023 Rumor Mill Starts Here

I pray to all that is holy & pure that, they DO NOT go like Rothbury & turn into Electric Forest. I ain’t down for that at all. If they wanna put STS9 on a stage late night or have a silent disco in the woods, that’s cool but the day the announce Pretty Lights or Diplo as a headliner I’m out. Caveats being Dave Tipper w/ Android Jones (wildest thing I’ve seen in person) or Shpongle’s Live Band, those things are different.

There’s plenty of lineups or themes they could book to bring back their audience… they need to go back to the side by side or rotating stage so the music never stops and go back to the “interlocking sets”. Have headlining bands play two sets for two nights, but like the first few years with no set breaks. That way you can have 4 sets from headliner level bands each night as opposed to two sets each night. And they need two late night options again too. Something rowdy for the people still wigging balls and something chill for people on the “come down” in the woods.

Is it safe to assume Lockn isn't happening since they didn't even bother to renew the TLS certificate on their website (the "s" in HTTPS)?

I thought we might have got an announcement during Goose’s Run at The Cap last weekend, assuming they’d be on whatever hypothetical lineup there’ll be. My next hope is for an announcement at Phil’s residency this week, again, assuming he’d be apart of whatever is being/been planned. If April 1st, comes & goes without anything announced then I’m saying it’s safe to assume it’s not happening in 2023. It’s even getting late to announce “single band” centered events if that’s the Avenue they wanna go down.

sometimes the wise investment move is to hold the land rather than spend for revenue producing. Taxes probably aren't high, nor is insurance as long as it's idle. Don't know if there's a conventional mortgage. Get a little money from pasture or hay.

We're on a wing and prayer here, but might as well throw in that Billy Strings dropped initial fall tour dates today and that's an open window for them as well.  They finish Huntsville run 8/26, next date is Louisville 9/14.  And Bobby Weir's got a big open dance card after mid-July and you know he's always hungry to fill it up.  Come on Shappy, pull a rabbit out of your hat for us!

I think there’s definitely a lineup out there that could be booked & a really good one too. Any Three of Phil, SCI, Goose, Billy Strings, Widespread, TAB, Wolf Brothers, UM, TTB and Greensky would be a great combo of headliners and would sell tickets. I don’t think it’s a matter of if they “can” do it, but rather a matter of if they “want” to do it. There’s really no other excuse, they’ve had the time to do it, the bands are available & there’s “demand” for the public for an event, so what other reason could it be, beyond “will”. Some may say financing, but even with high interest rates, the Lockn guys can go to almost any bank & get a bridge loan to put on a show if they want. Banks loan money, it’s what they do…

don't be so sure about ability to borrow.  Anyway, these events run on investments, not bank loans.

I like your list but have to think that 4848 having greensky and umphreys may take them out if all the radius rumors have any legs (anyone ever see a contract?)
