mccjeff that's a damn good album, here's a review I thought interesting:
The other live album from Johnny Winter And, 1971 s Live Johnny Winter And , has always ranked as one of the high points of Johnny s discography, but we d stack this 66-minute set up against that record (which was in part composed of other Fillmore East performances) any day of the week. In fact, when you hear Johnny and Rick Derringer trading off lead after lead, you may well be reminded of a bluesier, harder-edged Allman Brothers, with Johnny as Duane and Derringer as Dickey Betts with the McCoys rhythm section. In other words, folks, this is some of the most ferocious blues-rock ever laid down on stage.
Spent my teenage years listening to And Live and Captured Live riding dirt roads of Tennessee. But I always really liked his first Columbia record with Tommy Shannon on bass and Uncle Turner on drums. Here's a favorite from that LP.

I've seen Johnny a couple of times. Way back when he was a younger man. Blew me away. Jumping around the stage, jamming his ass off & he would change colors with the lighting. Then a couple of years ago when he was so frail they had to help him onstage to a chair & offstage again. But damn he could still jam his heart out & sing the way he always did. GOD love you Johnny, thanks for the memories

This a severe loss to the music world. I've seen this great man on several occasions and am truly going to miss his music genus.

A trip to see Johnny Winter in Memphis in 1974(?) is one one my most depraved concert going experiences ever. It was Fear and Loathing worthy.

Johnny was scheduled to play over in Burlington next Saturday night I guess it's another ticket that goes in the unused section of the collection.

Still devastated over this. Never got to see the legend live. About a year ago I made a list of the musicians i HAVE to see, there's only about 7 people on it but Johnny was one of them.
