His estimate of what they shared was about $15,000 split up. Not a lot but enough to piss a lot of people off.
My wife wants to boycott but here I am thinking 🤔 is this the world we live in now and these are the closest festivals we get. She’s a stubborn woman and I think I don’t want to rock this boat.

I mean isn’t the whole foundation of “volunteering” about NOT Being Paid??? When one agrees to “volunteer”, doesn’t one do so knowing there’s not gonna be compensation… to expect otherwise is kinda scum baggy. My next question would be, were the “volunteers” allowed to watch some of the festival, cause a lot of festivals exchange labor for tickets. Lastly, I don’t know who kept the money, if it was event organizers or if it was donated to charity… I know Hog Farm takes donations all over the grounds for The Camp WinnaRainbow that Wavy runs at Black Oak Ranch, maybe it went there. High Sierra is a well run festival where an entire town welcomes people and makes the experience really amazing. I wouldn’t turn away from either event over this, now if they start “not paying” their contracted vendors, Artists and employees then I would support a boycott but when people volunteer they lose the right to complain about compensation, be it salary, tips, handjobs or anything else they’re passing out.

I see what you are saying about volunteering so maybe they should rename but for years free admission and a tee shirt plus tips were the package so by that definition they aren’t truly volunteers. My friend couldn’t afford to take that time off from work and buy gas to drive that far without the tip money and I get his being bent finding out after the work was done.
I agree both are well run and super fun with a lot of cool charities and vision. Having worked site crew for High Sierra I got great inside look at a lot more than meets the eye that people popping in for four days don’t necessarily see, the cooperation and love for it.
I didn’t say I wanted to boycott, that’s my wife and my dilemma

To Hondo's point it definitely should be disclosed. Boldly. And if I were the volunteer, I'd be sure it was.
