just wondering from other's experience about securing stuff at the campsite while off seeing the shows. I get that the obvious stuff like electronics and liquor goes in the car.
But what about folding tables and chairs--cable lock them like outdoor restaurants do?
tapestries, lights/lanterns, stoves, other camping gear? Supplies?
How about coolers? I hate to have to keep them in a hot car, especially food coolers. My strategy is to have several small coolers packed tight and sealed until needed.
I'll be in VIP camping, if that matters.
seems to me that if I have to secure stuff, small locks "just enough to keep an honest man honest" would be OK. You can put a small padlock through the zippers on a tent or backpack. A small cable luggage lock can be useful to keep stuff from growing legs.
Thanks!

I'm generally of the opinion that the last thing anyone there wants to do is haul all of YOUR crap (I'm sure you have very nice crap, mean no disrespect) out, too. That said, I don't bring anything I would cry about if it walked.

btw, i was the one that had crap stolen last year. i was stupid and left my backpack under my ez up. wasnt exactly plain sight, but it was easily accessible. they also went through my cooler and took my liquor. that was a big bonehead move on my part, and i sure learned that lesson. that being said, im not one to worry about coolers or tapestries or tables or chairs. there's plenty of that crap just laying around for free when the fest is over, so i dont think the are too concerned with those items.

You make a very good point. with the amount of non stop music and distance, there must of been so many open campsite. When we had those burn outs come through our camp last year hastling us for our liquor it was during the panic set on Sunday. they even made a mention of why are you here and not in there with music. there are bad apples everywhere. I use tent locks too. I agree that if anything it will just move the douche onto the next campsite. s

would also secure chairs and such at the campsite:
I have a home-made lock for locking things to the roof (or outside) of a car, made originally for windsurfing gear.
get a long length of plastic coated cable, maybe 1/4"
Two wooden blocks, and drill two holes side by side in each.
When the cable end is threaded in one hole of a block and back out the other, you can't pull the cable through; it binds. Use one at each
end of the cable.
You run the cable through your possessions, drop the two blocks in the car door, slam it shut and lock it. No one can pull the cable
out the car dor seal due to the jammed blocks. You could probably just tie a big old knot in the cable and slam that in the car.
Adjustable and can be as long as you want. But it requires something to run the cable through the possessions or a really tight tie-off.
All you need is enough to keep an honest man honest. The casual thief (included judgment impaired grabber) typically will not pause
for a second to cut, break or undo anything.
