Well, the stars aligned and the gods smiled down on us and with some generosity from my son we were able to travel to the Boulder shows. Man. What a great time we had. Our crew was myself, Mrs. TOO, both kids and a friend of my son. We didn't really do any sightseeing as our focus was to have the best experience we could at the shows.
Friday night we were able to catch Melvin Seals and JGB with John K. What a treat and a great pregame show. Saturday we went to Meow Wolf in Denver. Wow, what a trip that place is. Definitely made for people on psychedelics Saturday night we took a party bus from Denver to the show and back as we didn't really know what to expect for parking on campus. We got in line (not really a line) about 5:15 with gates opening at 5, supposedly. Very slow and unorganized to get in the gate but we made it in time. We had GA seats so we had to pick 5 seats together wherever we could. Not the best view but we had awesome neighbors and a great experience, not a talker around us. Sunday and Monday we were able to park on campus and tailgate a bit before we went in. The last two days we were lined up at the gate 45 minutes before they opened so were able to get much better seats straight back from the stage just a couple of rows up the 2nd night. We had decent neighbors that night and we were right in the middle of the party. Night three we were able to get seats straight back and about ten rows from the concourse. Just exactly perfect but our neighbors that night were the worst ever. They talked non stop the whole show and could give a rats ass what was happening on stage.
As far as the music goes it was nothing short of amazing. I mean look at these setlists. I caught the Eleven that I'd been chasing and heard everything else that I wanted to. What a great way for me to close this chapter of my long, strange trip. I thought the Dave Matthews sit in was good and certainly something special. Oh, and no OMSN at the Saturday show. Guess they played them all for looseankles
And drones. Did I mention drones? We could see lights in the sky and the crowd started to murmur wondering what was happening. When the first stealie took shape you could hear a collective gasp from 55,000 people at once. It was amazing! There 's a video in my Google photo album if you haven't seen it. Travel there and back was mostly painless and a first class plane ride home did not hurt one bit.
I'm excited for all of you traveling to SF. Wish I was going but this is it for me and that's OK. Not sure what's next. Likely more Wolf Brothers, maybe some Ratdog 3.0 but whatever it is we'll see you down the road.
Here is a link to a few pictures that I took if you want to check them out. Yea there are a few duplicates as I haven't fully cleaned up the album yet so just click through if you want.
