DeadCO Confirm Las Vega Residency

ROAD TRIP!!!

So who is thinking about the DeadCo Vegas shows?

And who has already signed up for the presale?

I did some quick checking and found that:

Tickets range from $145 - $395 per night

I found airfare and hotel (Harrahs) packages from DC between $1000 and $2000.

So - if I choose to go - MY total, for 3 shows - for center, but nosebleed seats; Spirit airlines roundtrip; and Harrahs casino hotel is about $1500, for 3 shows, not as bad as I thought at first...

I looked at Jun 6/7/8, just for pricing, but those date are good for me.

I got the Harrahs pricing from a package deal on Expedia, independent of the show.  Harrah's is 1/2 mile from the Sphere.

Glad someone who wasn't me said it first. Makes the idea of HoloJerry™ seem like a doddle.

If Bill’s mere mention of an upcoming Dead & Company gig inspired hope that he might rejoin the band for this historic run, the last line of his post seemed to dash it, “To all those who make it there, have a blast, my friends…”

Well, the not buying a ticket experience was very Ticketmaster like. I pressed the button at the appointed hour and was placed in the queue at #8351. I thought that was pretty good considering the venue holds roughly 20k and there are multiple shows. The message read; "Get ready - your turn is coming". When the message changed I pressed the new button. I was placed in another queue at #16,688 where I stayed.

They've added 6 more shows to the residency.

I've always said I never wanted Grateful Dead music to turn into that episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm where Larry and Cheryl go to see Paul McCartney. In other words, I never wanted it to turn into an overpriced nostalgic classic rock act where the appeal is nothing more than "seeing a living legend before they die". Perhaps this is what Dead and Company has always been and I've just been in denial. foregoing touring to become a Vegas residency act is pretty much the definition of what I described above tho.

Having said all that, yes I will be there with my overpriced tickets for 3 nights over my birthday weekend 5/30-6/1. I'm sure the sphere will be mindblowing, and I know this band is still capable of bringing it. I'm all for anything that allows more people to experience the music and if this is what works for the band good for them. Everyone that goes will have a blast and I'm sure the band will too. Also, I heard they were selling a super premium Steal your face platinum package that comes with a free poster and a voucher for an MGM Grand tier Vegas prostitute. The Ultra premium package is the same thing but the poster is better than that awful yellow Lisa Frank design they used on some posters and the voucher is for a Bellagio tier working girl.

when I hear "Vegas residency" I think Tom Jones and Barry Manilow.
