Whats the most comfortable festival chair?
Post by grumbly-one on Aug 9, 2024 12:16:15 GMT -5
I would have assumed just from looks that it might be the GCI Outdoor Rocker Camping Chair which is going for $70 on amazon
I'm currently sporting the generic blue chair, which is currently for sale at dicks for $10. And its actually pretty comfortable if you slouch just right. But if you sit upright it kind of loses its comfort level.
The pricetag is kind of nice, if I throw it on the showfield in the afternoon then go see a show at another stage, I wouldn't be heartbroken if someone stole it.
I sat on someones director style chair at a festival (it was while I was visiting jonesville!) and thought it was comfortable, so I bought the ozark trail version for $25, it was not as comfortable. The back is too low for me.
And the one wirecutter actually said was the most comfortable was the YETI, price tag $300. No way I'd leave a yeti chair on a show field while I wandered around, too expensive. Which I guess means I'd not be comfortable with worrying about it getting stolen all the time.
So what have you guys found to be the most comfortable chair for festival attendance?

I like to have a little support or my back starts bothering me. I prefer the locking ones similar to the kijaro above. Currently rocking an Ozark trail one that is similar with removable rockers.
Y'all may remember me carrying around an old aluminum beach chair years ago. Claimed it while cleaning out my dad's shed. Those are comfortable till the rivets break through and leave you on the ground.

Though I often carry the bag chair (we call them soccer chairs) to the showfield, they are far from comfortable; you sink too low in them, struggle to get out, and the edges cut into you.
I have a low-rise backpack beach chair which is great for smuggling, or toting legit gear. Despite my best efforts and to the amusement of those in line, you cannot enter a portopotty with one on your back no matter how forcefully you try.
The old woven lawn chair is the best, but the fail point can be the straps if they get old. They tend to fail the same way Gatsby lost his fortune: gradually, and then suddenly.
I sometimes carry a small cable lock and lock the chair to a fence or something so it won't wander off with a wook--this especially with stuff in the backpack.
YMMV

This aggression will stand, that chair was a Christmas gift! I know you’re on this board.
2017 Lockn’ N4
You stumbled into our camp around 5am, unleashed a primal scream, defected in my chair, leaving your s*** covered shirt and shoes behind.
The next morning my buddy me told there was a crazy person screaming under our pop up tent, said he was going to tell them shut up, but when he saw the crazy look in your eye he got back in his tent. Didn’t think much of it until we were packing up our stuff and found a random pair of shoes with s*** on them. That’s when I saw a fresh pile of s*** on my brand new Columbia chair. The chair was a Christmas gift, Lockn was the first and last time I used it. I left the chair at Lockn for come crusty wook to stumble upon thinking it they had a sweet ground score.
That was 7 yrs ago, you’re older, and likely have less control over your bowels. At Mondegreen please educate yourself where the nearest porta potties are and wear a diaper. I look forward to the new Columbia chair you’ll have waiting for me at Will Call.
