The field is in a low lying area. Remember - there's a retention pond at the end (what would have been 'behind' the stage last year). You also get dew as the night moves along - same reason your tent gets moist. Not to mention the fog that can set in the low areas as well! What I mean is...one that you put in your car. It has a moisture barrier as well as a soft side! Please note: This forum is in no way officially associated with Lockn' Festival or its promoters.

Does anyone recommend a blanket to bring into the show? Easy carry, lightweight..suggestions would be appreciated..thank you

i've got one that is sort of rubbery/plasticy on one side and soft on the other that work really really well. dont remember where i got it, but it fits in a backpack just fine.
also managed to pick up one of these for $3 off of a daily deal website. i'm sure you can find something similar somewhere else:

Twister Mat. Not kidding.
On a grass field, if it's dry, I'm happy to sit on the grass. If it's wet, I don't want to sit on a wet blanket. So the blanket thing
doesn't do much for me. Then again, I don't sit on a towel at the beach either.

And blankets DO get wet at Lockn' in the evening hours...rain or not. The ground somehow holds a lot of water that comes up and attacks you after the sun goes down. I don't understand the science, but I'm prepared to bring my chair into the venue at night this year to avoid sitting on a wet blanket like I did last year. If you're using a blanket, make sure there's some kind of moisture barrier between it and the ground after the sun goes down!

Go for a Tarpestry, they're the best! Part tarp, part tapestry, it is comfortable and will keep you dry on wet ground. They even sell straps for carrying and you can add extra grommets so that you can use it on your easyup.

Totally agree that $100 is steep, but so far it's been well worth it for is. We got ours before Mountain Jam this year and in a few months we have already used it for many shows, tailgating in the lot, picnics, and dogs riding in our car. We have had lots of cheap little blankets over the years of going to festivals that have ended up ruined, the tarpestry will last us for a long time and is much more functional than the others we have had. Not cheap, but for us it has already been well worth it!
Also, is it September yet? Can't wait to get down to the farm for an amazing weekend of music!

Thanks for this heads up. I like the idea, but it was the "dogs in the car" that got my attention. I have 2 labs who really love to swim. Perfect idea! Tarpestry seems to change up their patterns often, there are a few other online places that sell them, if you search around a little bit you will probably be able to find some other/older colors/patterns than those available on the tarpestry website.
