Hilarious.
they know we're coming, lol. looks like they def have something in mind for all of the early birds.
this seems like a good sign. idk why, but i have a better feeling about being policed by the local law enforcement than the state police.
We're all here because we're not all there

Once inside the entrance off Oak Ridge Road, traffic can spread out seven lanes wide to go through security checkpoints and get wristbands.

County preps for traffic, impact of Lockn’ event
It says northbound US 29 will have festival traffic in the right lane and through traffic in the left lane, which makes complete sense. However, southbound US 29 traffic will have to go past the normal left turn to Oak Ridge Road, going a bit further south to do a U-turn and then get in the right lane of northbound US 29. I wonder how that U-turn process will go, if you are having to wait for the through traffic in one lane and possibly having the other lane full of cars going to the festival. If people can't get through the U-turn fairly quickly, it seems like traffic will get backed up on southbound US 29, in the left lane.
I would imagine they will have people at that spot to make sure the southbound cars keep moving.
Thanks for the link. Now we have RV's making U-Turns! looking at the map there are about 5 crossovers before the road they want you to make a U-Turn. Are they going to monitor all of them? Imagine the mess when you see RV's and campers making U-turns into traffic.

I'll be in an RV and will make the U-turn if necessary, although I may try to ensure I'm coming from the south. I gotta believe they will have police at that particular crossover to make things go smooth.
Apparently the other crossovers will be blocked. The article says..
Probably a good idea to check @vadot on Twitter when headed that way.

Or maybe that should be @511southwestva or @511centralva ?

exactly.. the first one to roll up is going to get turned away. it's def strength in numbers, but you can only argue so much with the law. I appreciate the thread tho.. I actually live 2 1/2 hors away in VA, and have been wondering what to plan. I definitely don't want trouble driving around staging the line at night.. but I don't want to sit in a 12 hour line in the morning either.. hmmm.. so most of you folks are going the night before en masse and just make it happen? i'm buying a VIP ticket, but I don't think that's gonna matter...a line is a line

The unknown is how many people show up late a night on Wednesday and do the police start turning people away when Lockn runs out of field space and people start parking on the street? Or, are their so many people that the police tell Lockn to open the gates and let the people in?
Only one way to find out

Awesome! I am coming from Jacksonville. Leaving 2am Thursday morning. Long drive here as well. Hoping to cruise right in as well!
Can't wait for this experience.

It's all about logistics and resources folks.
Bottom line - The people who would need to support the festival entry, EG the parking ticket scanners, the camping parking directors, the folks WHO WILL SEARCH YOUR CAR, would need to be there early too.
From what I hear they are not supposed to show up until Thursday morning somewhere around 6 or 7AM.
Do yourself a favor and breathe deep. There will be plenty of choice spots to camp. You don't have to stress over this.
