I just received an email from Lockn (CID guest services) stating the VIP entrance time will be Thursday at 9:00am. Obviously this contradicts the arrival survey which stated Wednesday at 4:00pm. I have called both CID guest service tel numbers (no answers) and have an email into them to double check. Stay tuned, but my guess is this is accurate as it saves having to pay staff to be on site an extra day.

Thank you for purchasing the Lockn' Festival VIP Ticket. This is going to be an incredible weekend and we look forward to helping you enjoy it to the fullest. This email contains important information about your package.
VIP ENTRY
Festival entry begins at 9:00AM on Thursday, September 5th. When checking in, you will be able to utilize the VIP East Toll Booth Entrance. After your vehicle is searched, you will have your ticket scanned and receive your festival wristband, laminate and merchandise.
To enter the festival site please follow these directions:
• From 29 South ◦Make a left at Front Street
◦Follow to James River Road
◦James River Road to Oak Ridge Road
◦Right on Oak Ridge Road
◦Follow signage to VIP Check-in
•From 29 North ◦Make a right at Front Street
◦Right James River Road
◦Right on Oak Ridge Road
◦Follow signage to VIP Check-in
Upon entry, you will be directed to your appropriate area to set up your camp and park. Please make sure your hang tag is displayed and visible at all times.
VIP AMENITIES
Once inside the festival, you will have access to the VIP Lounge. This lounge will provide you with an area where you can sit back and relax on plush, comfortable furniture. The VIP cash bar in this lounge will give you a break from the lines and crowds in general admission, allowing you quicker access to drinks. The lounge is open Thursday from 2PM-2AM, Friday & Saturday from 11AM-2AM, and Sunday from 11AM-1AM. Special air-conditioned restrooms will also be available for your use. In addition to the amazing VIP lounge, you will have access to VIP viewing areas!
VIP status will also give you admittance to the Welcome BBQ which will take place in the VIP Lounge on Thursday from 4PM-7PM. In addition, complimentary late night munchies will be available for you to snack on each night! These munchies will be available Thursday to Saturday from 11:30PM-2AM, and Sunday from 10:30PM-1AM.
CHARITY SILENT AUCTION
A guitar and poster signed by the Lockn' headliners will be up for auction. Just stop by the Qello Lounge in the "Participation Row" non-profit village. The proceeds will be split among all the non-profits in attendance. You can also win a signed guitar by entering a free drawing, and get a free Qello 30-Day All Access Pass at the Lounge. HeadCount.org is organizing this activity.

I got the email too and wrote back to them before checking the boards. I have at least two emails confirming a Wednesday check-in for Super-VIPs.

It's all good no matter what. I hope we can get in Wednesday, but that's a lot of hanging around. If I get to stay in Charlottesville for the night, so be it.

I asked them a few weeks ago about VIP check in and was told Wednesday at 4pm so my group had planned around that. This throws a little wrench in our plans but no biggie.

Just being me, I had to send an e-mail to CID pretty much telling them to kiss my ass, lol! I was pretty much kidding, but it was fun to do so! I say all of us Super VIPs and all of you VIPs get together and burn CID headquarters down! Just kidding again! Looking forward to an amazing Fest and meeting all you wonderful people there!

This is kind of a big deal (to us). We wrote more than once to confirm---all with the idea of making solid travel plans. Now it looks like we'll be in Richmond on Wednesday night looking for an extra night (just called our hotel; they're booked on Thursday).
Then there's the drive. Boo-hoo us, sure, but we've been planning this for a while. We relied on them so bypassed local hotels thinking we'd have a leisurely drive on Wednesday. Now we have to get outta there when, around seven? And that's not counting dealing with the traffic mentioned in other threads.
There's nothing like waking up at five AM for a late-night music festival!
My optimistic side is thinking that this is all an oversight or typo--that they listed VIP as it is (the ticket info just said "dedicated festival entry" and forgot to add on Super-VIP entry (which is described as "early dedicated"). I hope the correction (if there is one) isn't to say S-VIPs can enter at 7AM. Yeah, we miss a bit of traffic but start the day between three and four? Ugh.

I have SVIP and they emailed me the same thing, so no early dedicated entry but just dedicated entry. I think that if this become to many issues that we need to complain together and not individually, because if not then all we get is "Sorry, But thanks for your money." Also when they sent out the email, CID did have a special number to call during the festival that is different than there typical number that you would call for questions before and after the festival. So by this email save the number so if there are issues to call and have them fix. As for me My only concern is the music times and the food times. What bands am I going to have to miss when I eat and what time is the acoustic performance. Hopefully the acoustic doesn't over lap on the other music. But yeah, if this doesn't go as plan this will be the last. Also Since there is numbers to call I assume there is reception. CID did want us to post on facebook and those other sites, so don't worry if things go bad they will hear about it. So anyways pay attention to what the offer and the changes. When you check-in ask all the questions and where everything is, because at Peach CID didn't inform you unless you ask, so when I wanted an amenity (massage) on saturday they were all booked up and I never got that. They hired one lady and 30 minutes per person, so not everyone got it even though that was a highlight for their VIP. Just be aware. I don't expect the food to be good so I plan on spending money on the venders as well. I rather be surprised than have high hopes and be let down. After this mess this will be the last time for me. Well have fun!

For those of you who had planned on rolling in on Wednesday the Plan B will be to camp at the Peaks of Otter Campground Ground on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I'll be arriving at the Peaks of Otter Campground on Monday and rolling out on Thursday morning. Only $18 a night for RV camping. They have a decent restaurant at the Peaks of Otter Lodge.

Got through on the phone. Spoke with Amanda, a very nice, polite and beleaguered service rep from CID. According to her, the order came from the festival organizers to make the 9AM Thursday gate time THE gate time for GA, VIP and Super-VIP. It came as a shock to them (the ticket/promotion agency), but their hands are effectively tied at this point. They're ostensibly meeting with the promoters to see if some accommodations can be made, but obviously could not promise anything.
I am shocked. Chagrined. Flabbergasted. Search my posts (er, metaphorically, that is, unless you're really interested). I've been a freakin' champion for Peter Shapiro. He's always done well by us fans, whether it was the Wetlands (I never made it there before he took over, but it was great then!), Capital Theater or Brooklyn Bowl. But this is beyond the pale. We're coming down from upstate New York and relied on the posted "early dedicated" part of the Super-VIP ad, and then relied on CID (who got their information from them) to make travel plans. Moreso than a few drinks, the early check-in (which was confirmed multiple times via email) held the promise of avoiding traffic and making for a stress-free festival. Now? We're in a complete lurch.

Amanda is great! She replied to me a few times as well. This is very disappointing to say the least. I don't want to sound like a whiner, but it seems the changes to VIP privileges are changing more and more as the festival approaches. I'm actually quite shocked by this as Shapiro is no rookie. I'm still stoked for the music - I really think this is going to be a once in a lifetime festival, but very, very nervous about having spent the money on VIP.

I'm desperately trying not to slide into whiny territory, but this is a major cock-up. It has a direct cost of a hotel, a last-minute stressful scramble to find accommodations, and will likely cost us unplanned hours in gate-wait time.
The off-pissing thing about the change is how we did our best to minimize the stress and keep Arrington's hotels open for long-distance GAers who needed to stay Wednesday night locally. Now we'll be lucky to find a place in C'ville.
But to be optimistic (and really, really bank on Shapiro's rep), we figure they'll realize what a tangible screw-up this is and either find a way to open on Wednesday or throw a big enough bone to make us forget.

besides the changes to gate times, can someone explain the directions above? we're gen adms and staying in car camping. have hotel in lynchburg,va, which is south and we'd come up 29 north.
those directions seem to say go past fest on 29, find front st. take that to james river to oak ridge road? seems to me I could turn right of 29n onto oak ridge and be a whole lot easier?

So if i'm reading this right, the VIP entrance will be off James River > Oak Ridge road and be coming in from south east of the 'track' whereas if you go of 29n and right on oakridge, just west of track, will be normal entrance, for all us car campers? that seems odd since rv and vip is right by the track and the car camping is on southeast side?in case you missed it, you guys still get your very own entrance. i highly doubt there will be any wait time for vips, and if there is it will be very minimal.

seems pretty odd to me, too. but from the directions someone posted they got in the email about vip, the google map route i posted appears to be accurate. i only assume from the colored map released about a week ago that GA will be coming in right off 29, where the day parking is

The wait time is going to be sitting in traffic waiting to get close to the separate vip entrance. These are one lane roads leading into this festival. This isn't Bonaroo sitting right off the interstate.
