My bud laughed at me when I told him about the restriction. This is my first Lockn so i really am clueless. I've never heard of this sort of policy before at any of the festies I've been to. So my question is - if we're driving up with one car and two tents, are we gonna be forced into tents only? (not that it's such a bad thing, i guess)

It's one tent per car camping pass. Semantics, perhaps, but a distinction nonetheless.
As long as both of your tents fit in the space allocated, I highly doubt you'll have a problem. However, I wouldn't bring two tents unless I was confident I could fit both of them in the 15 × 30 space you're allotted (in addition to your car and canopy [if you're bringing one]). You don't wanna be a dick and encroach on your neighbors.
So basically, if your plan is to pitch a pair of two man tents, you're cool. If your plan is to pitch a pair of 4 person tents and a canopy, you should reconsider (or opt for Tent Only, where space isn't an issue).

It was my understanding that it is a space requirement not number of tents. You have a 10X20 footprint to have your tents and car fit into

One tent per car is a joke...do they not realize that a lot of people do not use those big, cheap communal tents and prefer small personal or two person tents that hold up to the weather much better.

have this question into CID, as I was planning two pup tents. will advise when I hear back. Dylan says 15X30 so he knows more than me so I would believe him

We got a 10x10 canopy, a 9x9 tent and our car into the space in Car II AKA East BFE. I think by that time they weren't real sticklers about the grass markings though. I could barely see them, even in the light of day, anyway.

Last year they weren't too strict about it as far as I could see. I mean, in PT, we used a bunch of spaces just to tie 4 EZ-Ups together for our communal area and we just pitched our tents wherever we felt like. Heck one guy even parked his car next to his tent! One tent per car is a joke...do they not realize that a lot of people do not use those big, cheap communal tents and prefer small personal or two person tents that hold up to the weather much better.
We did have a lot attendant guy hanging around. ...fortunately he really liked our beer and smoke.

Again, I don't think they're going to be enforcing this on people who bring small one or two person tents. They aren't out to get anybody, they just want to make sure everyone gets a fair amount of space. If your tents can fit in the space allotted, no one is going to bother you.

my tahoe is 6x15. So if I park it in the "front corner" of my lot, I can put my 7x9 tent beside it if I wanted, leaving a massive 15x15 behind the two; might have to have a square dance 'cept I hate square dancing. A 10x10 canopy with one edge over the tailgate leaves tons of room to stretch out.
Not saying you have to play campsite tetris but it shows what can be done.
and no reason not to drag a tent under the canopy at night.

I can't imagine they will have people walking around measuring your space and telling you what you can and can't put up beside your vehicle. At Roo you simply pull into the spot the point you toward, put up what you can before the space gets took by your neighbor.

Just got this e-mail back from CID concerning this;
Thank you for reaching out to us! With the VIP car camping pass, you will be allotted 450 sq. ft. of space. You should not have any issues if everything fits in your space, just remember to respect your neighbor's space as well! If there is anything else we can assist you with, please let us know. We'll see you in Virginia!
So basically you can have more than one tent as long as you keep in your 450sq. feet of space.
