I've got all kinds of Food Vendor related comments, and it came up in another thread, so I figured I'd start a new discussion.
The food vendors inside the venue were great. There were plenty of options and rarely much of a line at any one vendor. It was really easy to grab food while still enjoying the show, which further perpetuated the "continuous" music experience.
The campgrounds, however, were an entirely different story. I was actually quite surprised at how few food vendors were available at Lockn' last year. If you were in Car Camping, it was a serious hike to Shakedown, where I think you could get tacos and like a wrap or something. There was one awkward, constantly crowded coffee thing across the street from Car Camping 1 (if I recall correctly, it was closed at night and the line during the day was entirely too long for me to consider). I think there were like two food vendors between Car Camping 2 and the Triangle stage; but if there were, they were not open when I was over there (which was like 1:00 am - 3:00 am).
I guess I'm just used to Bonnaroo, where there are literally dozens of food vendors in the camprgounds, many of which operate 24 hours. I was not prepared for the lack of food options between 1:00 am and 11:00 am. Perhaps those in Tent Only had a different experience and saw some options that I didn't(I really didn't have time to explore the Shakedown-area last year). But those of us in Car Camping basically didn't have any food vendors available to us after we got "home" each night.
Obviously this year will be different, as all the camping is more centralized. A close look at the map reveals three food vendors in Shakedown and two at the Triangle stage. I am really hoping that, especially with the increased focus on latenight shows, these vendors will be open well past midnight, if not 24 hours. Regardless, it will at least be a lot more convenient for me to get food in the morning . . . Brunch with Keller Williams, anyone?
I don't mean to alarm anyone, but on the updated Lockn' app, Spicy Pie is not listed among the food vendors. I seriously hope this is just an omission.
Since we're on the subject, what were your favorite food vendors from last year?
I got a huge bag of kettle corn on Sunday night last year and regretted not doing it sooner.
