Chairs in venue?

I will definitely be bringing a beach chair which is lower than standard camping chair. I Broke my leg earlier this summer and will need a seat for sure. I was not there last year but I imagine that as long as you are a reasonable distance back from the stage it should be cool. Regardless it's a good question your asking and I'd be interested to hear from folks who were there last year.

I just want to point out that this is what the official FAQ says:

Blankets and low back chairs are permitted but behind, or even with, the foh/soundboard only.

Note that it says "low back chairs." Whether or not they enforce it has yet to be seen; however, if you believe the FAQ, the chairs you see in the video should not be allowed in the venue this year.

On a somewhat related note, I really, really hope they prohibit people from bringing in those obnoxious shade shelters this year. Those things ruin the view for a solid 30 yards behind them and there were at least half a dozen in use during the day last year. My apologies if this is your thing, but the impact they have on the concert field is very noticeable. It is basically the equivalent of four people taking up about 25 tapestries worth of space. Exceptions can be made for anyone who is legitimately albino.

It's good to have a chair that you can go to every now and then, when ya need a break, but those big ass umbrella things are just plain rude.

my experience last year was this: i set up my chair and danced around it all day. when i had to go to the bathroom or get food or drink, i left my backpack in my chair and went about my business. i did this at least a dozen times and never had a problem. maybe i was just lucky, who knows. just follow this advice and you'll be just fine: "never bring anything to a festival that you aren't willing to leave without."

I'm bringing a chair, it'll be in the back out of the way where our group will have "base camp". I don't sit all day, but being recently diagnosed with MS, I have to take a break more often. However, if one more person yells in my face "this is a festival, not a rest-ival", I reserve the right to spray them with glitter and laugh hysterically.

what do y'all consider big shades? my fiance is pregnant and we just bout a "sun shelter" to bring with us. its 4.5 feet tall, which is much shorter than either of us standing up. plenty of people had much bigger ones last year, and we will be a good ways back behind the soundboard area. y'all think that would be a problem? for other festival goers, not Lockn' rules wise. they allowed them last year, hopefully they will this year. that sun was killer last year, spent a lot of sunday in the local tent after they started kicking people out from under the vip stand (dumb to be under there I know, but it was so damn hot.)
