TRASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the OBX, and don't like litter and trash thrown everywhere...we're on the same page...rock on...see ya in a few days

Wow, they get worse from here, huh? I was really bummed to see receptacles overflowing and so much litter (especially cups) on the ground. I think in a way, the worst thing you can do is tell people the cups are made out of something "bio-degradable." I think it gives people an excuse to litter. And if the cups degrade as fast as those infamous Sun Chip bags...well, maybe they disintegrate in 4000 years as opposed to 5000...

Coming from the Adirondack mountains where our motto is "take nothing but photos leave nothing but foot prints" picking up after our selves is second nature.

no plastic is my motto, but trash bags are a necessity. Portland, like many other cities, just banned retailers from using those awful plastic grocery bags. Reuse is Portland's mantra. We even have clothes-swapping parties at the office! I do get sad when I see young kids at fests who are litterbugs.

urban dog walkers here use compostable bags for that.

get this: Garbage can is picked up every-other-week. All your food scraps, including bones, bread, cheese, etc., go into the green yard cart along w/ grass clippings, which gets shipped to a commercial composting facility, processed, guarded by falcons, and then re-distributed to community gardens for growing food.

The green cart gets picked up weekly. Final cart, the blue one, is for recycling - glass, paper and metal...that gets picked up weekly too. 

Over 80% of Portlanders are using this system. Goal is to reduce waste going to the landfill. Food waste creates a lot of methane gas, just like cattle lots do.

Oh, Sneake. You need to work on that!!!!!

A composting pick-up wouldn't work in hot or rat-friendly places. Otherwise a good idea.

lawsuits and training sessions from HR....

Ha! ....and we have 2 nude bike rides across downtown every summer that has thousands of participants....


Well, we've had over 15 days this summer over 90 degrees, and rats live here too.... they're not strong enough to open the carts. 

Disappointed to hear that they use plastic cups.  Wonder if they would allow us to bring in our own cups, and if vendors would fill them?  I've got a ton of reusable pints from other festivals.
