wine vendors

Did they serve wine last year? I hadn't seen anything about it.
Anybody know what are likely to be the choices available? There weren't any wineries listed as vendors, so I assume it will come through Best Beverage or something...

Most of the vineyards are not big enough to support their output, so they buy containers of wine elsewhere and blend. Sounds deceptive but the wineries in California are doing this year too because of the drought.
me, I'm sticking with beer, an old and trusted companion.

I've posted elsewhere that I think Virginia wineries are overpriced for the product they offer. And of course festival prices are pretty overpriced, too. Not complaining. Still interested in the specific wineries they will have as some are definitely better than others. I like Barboursville (Green co?) and Veritas (or is that Nelson, right on the border?) among the Albemarle wineries. I've had a good time at the Rebec Wine and Garlic festival (this weekend) and that is just over the border in Amhearst Co. but I dont' think their wine is anything special. Can't say any of the other ones in or around Nelson are attractive for me.
I think that many of the smaller vineyards will buy either grapes or grape juice from other wineries or from independent grape growers (and yes, this is common across the country even among some big name wineries). I am not aware of any that actually buy and blend wine, although I am sure that occurs as well. Honestly I always ask at tastings if they grow all of their own grapes or if they purchase some. Scale is a huge deal for VA wineries and the main reason almost all of them rely on festivals and people visiting the winery for almost all of their sales. Hard to hit a good price point with small batches.
I like wine and drink a good bit of it but sticking to beer for the fest I think. I did have a Cab Sav that was a collaboration of Dave Matthews and ond of the California wineries that was pretty good last weekend.

business model--festivals, B&B/restaurants, "buy local" pressure, auctions and fund raisers.
I tried Dave's at the DMB show and it was good but I don't know the price.
But if you want to go that way, the Virginia wines featuring cab franc are the best IMO

Viognier is the characteristic Virginia white.

that has a lot to do with economy of scale. But that doesn't make me buy it.
