They're not even the same genre of movie: Star Trek is more collectivist, and Star Wars is more individualistic. In Star Trek, everyone belongs to Star Fleet, and those who don't, want to. The end of the movie or show is almost always a victory for the entire ship, or at least a handful of its crew. In the original Star Wars, the galaxy is saved by one kid. And it doesn't get any more individualistic than the character of Han Solo.
"Furthur" I assert that Star Wars is not science fiction. Star Trek is, it has some amount of plausibility, and has even predicted the future. Star Wars is "Space Cowboy," or "Space Opera," if you like. It is, in fact, a samurai movie - only told in space. Some Space Cowboy stuff does qualify as science fiction, Firefly and Cowboy Bebop come to mind, but Star Wars has religious magic and scientifically improbable swords, fer chrissake.
