Great 4 days of music overall. However, I do have a complaint about the sound, especially during the earlier acts. From the VIP listening area (and I wasn't there for every act) the bass and kick drum were way too loud and obscured the other instruments. Umphrey's Mcgee's 1st set, Drive By Truckers and Gary Clark sets were especially too bass-y. Grace Potter was very loud bass too. The mixes seemed to improve with the later acts, when presumably the bands' own sound guys took over. I actually complained to the guys in the booth a couple times, but they were busy sucking on vape pens and staring at their phones, except to inform me that "this is a festival". Well, so that means the sound should suck and just be all loud bass and kick drum? I realize it has to be very loud to reach far away but the improved mixes of the later acts proves it doesn't have to be all bass up front.

Anybody else feel this way?

I couldn't believe how loud the bass was during Umphrey's first set from the VIP area. I plugged my fingers in my ears and it was still incredibly loud. I was worried about hearing damage!

Sound at the main stage was definitely inconsistent. I suppose that is a consequence of doing an outdoor festival with concurrent sets and limited soundchecks. Although, they definitely seemed to do a better job last year. A lot of shows seemed like they took a few songs before the mix was in the pocket.

I love loud music but used earplugs during Umps first set and was still in pain. My wife standing right next to me wasn't botbered(neither was my buddy).
But yeah, dudes kick was way too hot. They might shoulda hung a few of those subs under the mid field array.

Yep..I thought it was WAY WAY too bass-y pretty much the whole weekend. During Billys set Oteil was overtop of everything, with these uber-sustained single bass notes that reverberated way too long. I have no idea what was going through their heads making it that bass-y. At times it felt like the mix you would create for a hip hop concert

Tremendous variation in sound from stage to stage and act to act.

I'm not sure what they where doing....and form the 'sound' of it...neither did they.

Low marks toward the 'overall' experience as some acts sounded much better than others.

As stated....last year...no issues. :thumbs:

I was on the right side and you could barely hear the mid and upper range sound..went over to the other side for Cheese and the Gang and noticed on the way the it was really good in the back...Problem was that they had no speaks facing off to the right and left of the stage..all the sound was going straight back..

they need to have an array pointing off to the sides...which would of solved the problem. Needless to say for the rest of the time we set up towards the back in center...

The center of that big nylon shade was IMO the best compromise for viewing both stages and getting the most out of the sound.
