truthiness. i think it's pretty obvious musicphan was joking, but in case he/she wasnt, my apologies. as a richmonder myself, i actually really wanted to WANT to go to this fest this year. i think there might even be a thread around here somewhere where i've said something similar. i can't comment on the past, but this year they were trying to charge bonnaroo prices for a pretty sub par lineup.

all it takes is enthusiasm, an open mind, and a desire to do for your fellow brothers and sisters. i, myself, just really started my festival journey with the first lockn. did roo '12, but my consecutive fests started with lockn.

OK, I'd like to hear the reasoning on why or why not the lineup is subpar/worth it. 'Cause looking at the lineup, I gotta go with sneake. Very few big-name acts for not a little money. There's lots of other stuff to see and do, but I (and I don't think I'm alone here) go to festivals primarily based on the music.

Well, I guess the music selection is all relative. I thought this past year was a great mix and the acts I hadn't heard of, I tried on Spotify and really liked most of what I listened to. At least for me, I'll go to bands I haven't heard much of before to see what the story is live. There are some stuff that I wouldn't have been too crazy about but once I heard them live, I changed my mind.

Personally, I'm willing to pay to go see stuff I know I like, stuff I assume I'll like, and a few acts that have no interest for me. Plus the chance to hang out with like minded people, eat/drink with little responsibility, and experience stuff I don't get to experience in my daily life. That's worth a premium to me at least.
